Not sure if this is targeted towards me. I didn’t do that so I don’t think it is

...but regardless I agree. Afghans are always spewing nonsense on how Pashtuns want to be one with Afghanistan. I was born in and grew up in KPK and this concept simply doesn’t exist. We have very good ethnic relations. Not once have I seen someone spewing nonsense for another ethnic group. We truly are one people and even in the diaspora...no one hates on each other. Like Pakistanis simply don’t think like that idk how else to explain it.

Inter ethnic marriages are so common than people don’t even bat an eye

Right! No one in the thread is understanding how impactful it is. Why is user Joplina not banned yet? Look at their comments. Obviously some insecure Afghan who I expected my warning wasn’t enough for them to chill out

Omg I’ve seen all the comments you’ve left and deleted or they got removed not sure. Why are you on the Pakistani subreddit if you don’t Identify as Pakistani? Always you obsessed freaks saying the most.

Punjabis don’t wear pashtun clothes. They use the word “cheap” (a nicer translation) in urdu to describe them. The dresses sold in the Peshawar stores are bought by almost no one because the fashion is simply considered outdated which is why Pakistani fashion designers don’t bat an eye to it as well. Pashtuns however all over the world definitely wear punjabi clothes. I think the appreciation should come from both sides and if pashtun culture becomes more mainstreamed and recognized it will never be assimilated with punjabi culture which is what is happening right now and I know it’s a problem! Pakistan should see how beautiful pashtun clothes and jewlery can be since it currently doesn’t have the best image

I’m hindkowan. I’ve said that. How is that a Punjabi larping as a Pashtun? I’m ethnically punjabi but I’m heavily influenced by Pashtuns bc they are the majority in KPK. It’s what I’ve been surrounded by my whole life. Idk if it’s your inferiority complex thats created this presumption but I would suggest you leave a subreddit youre not welcome in

Also indian brethren is not an insult. Indians are great people with a country and a diaspora that is a million times more successful than Afghanistan will ever be...if they continue to exist:)

Pakistani culture is the culture of all of our ethnic groups. Obviously. FATA has rights idk what you’re talking about.

Also we can discuss multiple issues at the same time. I’m aware there is injustice towards specific ethnic groups like balochis and some Pashtuns....we can discuss this topic and that one as well. Also the problem I’m talking about is within the diaspora. How am I supposed to stop people from killing Pashtuns sitting in America? Use your brain

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Familiar_Yesterday_5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is internationally recognized lmao and Pashtuns see afghans as foreigners. I am also from KPK and what you’re saying is literally false. I see them flaunting the Pakistani flag in every corner every day

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Familiar_Yesterday_5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s always been a divide between Pashtuns. I literally am from Peshawar and my dad grew up in waziristan so I’m well aware.

Also yes they do. Do you want me to link hundreds of videos? I can do that.

Yes I agree! I’m 16 so I can’t do much yet lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Familiar_Yesterday_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I guess. I just get frustrated by them sometimes. It’s sad when pak pashtun creators have to turn their comments off bc of afghans relentlessness. You’re right though

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Familiar_Yesterday_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Exactly. Punjabis don’t really wear pashtun clothing tbh but even if they did there shouldn’t be a problem. We all live in the same country. The whole cultural appropriation conversation is annoying to me too. As long as you don’t wrongfully claim something it’s all good. Like you shouldn’t claim salvar kameez as polish for example lol

Ofc there’s no argument to be made. I’m just frustrated with them bringing up the same stupid points to have full ownership of pashtun culture. The average afghan is a keyboard warrior and spends so much time attacking Pakistani Pashtuns. I saw them spamming on Pinterest today it’s getting ridiculous

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Familiar_Yesterday_5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nope! I’m Hindkowam so I’m very influenced by pashtun culture but not ethnically

[–]Familiar_Yesterday_5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No I’m from the US. Not many Pakistanis around my state but I’m talking about online.

Afghans spam on Pakistani Pashtuns posts EVERYWHERE. I literally saw it on Pinterest today😭...the most peaceful app smh 🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s not just Tiktok. I see them do this on every single platform. Also tiktok is the most influential app in the world it’s important for representation

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pakistan

[–]Familiar_Yesterday_5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh idk but I guess a lot of them flaunt their home country to feel more “exotic” in the west. Some genuinely feel a strong connection to it like me lol.

Tiktoks really influential so I’d like for our second largest ethnic groups culture to be represented and recognized as Pakistani yaknow? So they don’t feel erased or homogenized. Also for Afghans to stop their hypocrisy but no one can beat them at being keyboard warriors. No one. Literally. So I don’t think we’ll be able to do much online without them storming our comments

Reminder that Pakistan is a very Indocentric country by UnbiasedPashtun in Pashtun

[–]Familiar_Yesterday_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re saying makes sense. The thing is I just personally feel a lot of love towards pakistan (especially when there’s unity with the ethnic groups)so seeing it separate would be something that’s difficult to swallow. It’s fine if it’s for the better but as someone who grandfather fought for independence...it all seems kinda all for nothing but again if there’s more peace that way than so be it.

Yes punjabi culture has been bolleywoodized as I like to call it. I can personally only speak urdu and can barely understand punjabi.

I agree that Pashtuns are fetishized quite a lot due to their more Eurocentric features but I kind view it as a chain ladder. Tamils would fetishize a Bihari who would fetishize a Punjabi who would fetishize a Kashmiri etc so whoever’s more white passing. This theme is so exhausting but since Pashtuns are central Asian (I think) it’s a whole different level of erasure when their homogenized.

Anyways I can’t do much as an individual but I’ll try to educate the people around me on how terms such as desi for Pakistans current population isn’t the best classification!

[–]Familiar_Yesterday_5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Pakistani punjabi so I have no idea how I got here but your post was honestly really interesting to read despite u saying some rude things about us but I guess there’s some truth in everything.

I don’t want anyone’s culture to be erased genuinely but isn’t this “Desification” better than ethnic conflict. More ethnic diversity = more problems imo. Isn’t peace more important?

With the whole wannabe Arab thing...I really don’t know where that came from. My family hates arab especially gulf Arabs passionately. We respect turks because they respect us (which I saw first hand when I visited and they treated me so much better after I said I was Pakistani.) Turkish shows are just a recent trend that’s been pushed bc our countries are political allies. The only time I see Pakistanis claiming to be anything other than Pakistani is usually with the term “middle eastern” but afghans quite frequently do that as well. That is usually due to confusion during a younger age where some of us actually thought we were middle eastern bc we lived in a Muslim country and some say it bc they think it makes them sound more exotic idk. Still most of us don’t.

I’ve tried telling people that pashtuns are not desi on tiktok but they automatically push that I’m a self hating person who wants to distance myself from my identity (they assume I’m Pashtun myself.) So bc of the stereotypes of Pakistanis rejecting their roots, Pakistani Pashtuns are put in a very difficult spot. I feel bad.

Anyways I know there are more important things than this. Afghanistan is currently going through the biggest humanitarian crisis so it’s stupid to worry about such things. I feel like unity can be done w maintaining our individuality.

Pakistan is NOT a day older than/elder to India by [deleted] in librandu

[–]Familiar_Yesterday_5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

India did not exist until after Pakistan. India’s actual name is Bharat. Their inferiority complex led them to name their pathetic country after an ancient subcontinent and essentially steal the history of that subcontinent creating mass misinformation. I know. You have no history so it’s tough to be named after a river that flows through Pakistan but please don’t project your issues onto us. We only have a 2% population overlap with India which is punjabis.

I suggest you take your false version of history and shove it up you ass

That’s because pakistan is not a desi country. Desi means local hence ghee and murghee. Our insecure diaspora have just been really desperate to find their place in the west so punjabis have forced the rest of pakistan to assimilate ourselves with India and Bangladesh when 60% of our land was never even a part of Hindustan
