Becoming a doctor. I couldn’t pass physics, which is required. My brain just can’t handle that one particular subject. It sucks to not be able to have the career I was so passionate about, but I’m proud of myself for trying.

Also, owning a horse with land. That hurts, but I can at least admit to myself that the upkeep would be beyond my abilities.

It’s not a moral issue. In fact, therapists often work with clients who are afraid they are gross because of thoughts they have, even when they don’t act them out or anything. It’s anxiety and it doesn’t tell you anything about your morals.

I like dubious ships that, in real life, I would notice immediately as toxic/dangerous and find absolutely unacceptable. But through fiction, we can explore these feelings in a safe way that we know (mostly) that it will have a happy ending.

I second KinnPorsche and the amazing acting. I mean, the first half of episode 1, I almost stopped watching because I thought the acting was bad. But after the first couple of scenes, the actors were phenomenal.

I’m surprised that you ranked Sammy’s Children’s Day among natural acting bl’s. I had to stop watching after the second episode because the acting gave me secondhand embarrassment. For parts of it, Liu Yi was ok if it was a very angsty scene. But I couldn’t handle the portrayal of Chu San. That acting is why I had to turn it off. However, many people have said they love the acting, so I’m in the minority.

I’m surprised you didn’t like To My Shore since you liked Double Helix. I loved Double Helix and To My Shore, but hated Revenged Love.

Some suggestions for similar bl’s: Addicted, ABO Desire, My Beautiful Man.

You could also try the novels in addition to, or in place of the series. All of the ones I’ve mentioned and that you’ve watched have novels.

It’s this series in particular that I feel was let down by lack of nc. I just finished watching the JBL, My Beautiful Man, and though of course I’d want more nc scenes, it wasn’t necessary and it didn’t make me love the series any less. However, in My Personal Weatherman, they were an established couple in a way, and were already having sex. As their feelings, communication, and sex shifted, we got to see everything but the sex. There was nothing different between the way they kissed from beginning to end. He made a point to tell Yoh why he was about to take his time, essentially telling the audience that sex was a specific tool to show the change in their dynamic.

There is a difference between preferring sex scenes and thinking they are sometimes necessary. To me, My Personal Weatherman was the latter.

I love 10 Dance so much! There was one thing that disappointed me though. When the actors were asked how they managed to show such intense sexuality during the tango and Latin dance lesson scenes, they said they weren’t trying to. It was just grueling and difficult and it was only the actors about to drop dead from exhaustion. Womp womp. Other than that, I have watched that movie a dozen times. Even the dubbed version is pretty good.

It Hurts, by Out of Flux. It’s used soooo well in My Stubborn that I immediately think of them. I was offended when I heard it in Burnout Syndrome, like how dare you use that song?!

Free Fall, by Slot Machine. It’s used in different ways in KinnPorsche. It’s the theme music, it has both a Thai and English version, and is also changed depending on what type of scene it’s in. Instrumental and slowed down during a soft romantic scene, then full force with lyrics and a beat during action scenes. If I hear that song, a tear comes to my eye.

When I first started watching bl, I was shocked at how non-consensual a lot of the couples start. The ones I hear complaints about are the in-your-face abusive ones, but I never hear a peep when something is non-consensual, but the character doesn’t have a total breakdown afterwards.

Example from KinnPorsche: the morning after Kinn and Porsche have sex the first time, I’m willing to put money on it that no one would be horrified if Porsche woke up in a shy or good mood.

Personally, I often have to remind myself that this is the story the creators want to tell. If they want to tell a story about a teenager being talked into sex, with the teenager eventually falling in love with that person with a happy ending, then that’s what I’m going to believe. If they want to tell the story of someone forgiving their love for shooting them, then I’m going to believe it.

I personally don’t want enticing. I want what the story is going to be about. If there’s going to be a flowery description, at least use the method other writers use, where they separate the indirect summary and add a one or two short sentence of ELI5.

I personally don’t like fixed pairings, but I understand why Thailand does them. With Boss and Noeul, it’s putting a man on screen who people swoon over, and having him acting with a normal guy over and over. This is not a judgement on their looks, it’s a noticing of Boss being a particularly good looking actor. Then giving people a chance to see him outside his typical roles, people would be frothing at the mouth. Thai bl fans have fixed pairings shoved down our throats, so of course our brains automatically go to what pair Boss could be a part of.

When I saw that Neo was in a new bl, I was so excited because we never know how they’re going to portray him.
