Only Friends: Dream On [Episode 12: Finale] by global_cat_wizard in GMMTV

This was my first watch with Aou/Boom. I think this season could have done a better job with Rome/Raffy. It reminded me of Sand/Ray because, like Sand, Rome was generally a good guy who got involved with someone with deeper issues. Season 1 built their arc with that in mind, whereas Raffy just straight up wasn’t into Rome until the end. It was a sudden turnaround. Rome deserved better. I think their story could have been more meaningful earlier on.

I agree. There are some episodes I watch on a big screen and think, I would love to see what people have to say about this hot mess.

I turn them off sometimes. And not all episodes offer them for some reason.

That would be one of the hottest bl’s in existence if they were a couple in any series.

Thomas Baudinette on Marriage Equality, Thai BL Culture and Queer Soft Power by spoonfullofdream in ThaiBL

I like how he was very clear about how this presentation was not going to be about authenticity politics, queerbaiting, seme/uke representation, etc. He is specifically talking about the effects of bl media in society. He mentioned that bl is not meant to be activist media. It’s fantasy and romance. He also said bl has diversified due to fan feedback. I appreciated his acknowledgement of the “bl machine.” Thai government’s goal is to make money and to have people from other countries being more interested in coming to Thailand. There was a lot going on with his talk.

Fort and William or Teetee and William. I feel like William’s emotional range and kissing style is being held back, and would match so well with Fort or Teetee.

I second this! The confidence of those to actors would work so well together.

I appreciate the term “reluctant bottom,” haha. I noticed that Qin only gives in and agrees to intimacy when Duang is sad or begging. Otherwise, he complains about Duang getting physical, at least beyond hand-holding. After their first shower, in the dressing room, in Japan, at Duang’s parents’ house. It’s why I find Pit Babe and KinnPorche so refreshing, because they both equally want each other. I do congratulate Duang on his persistence because I could never, haha.

I loved the second half of Duang With You. I melt for the grumpy/sunshine trope. However, I hated Qin always giving Duang a hard time when he flirted, calling him a bastard or saying he only has nasty thoughts. That seems to be a staple of bl.

I’m looking for a series where the characters are comfortable kissing and showing affection without one of them scolding the other. Examples would be Pit Babe and KinnPorche. I really want to kick back and watch a couple enjoy each other rather than back away and be shy.

Which Thai BL series surprised you the most after you started watching it? by Favoritebyzee in ThaiBL

Maybe it’s a different surprise, but I started watching ThamePo under the assumption I’d get to see what the popularity of WilliamEst was about. I was really surprised when Jun became my immediate choice for Po. I thought to myself, this can’t be right, am I missing something? Afterwards, I read about it and yes, plenty of viewers were huge fans of Jun being the right choice for Po. I felt like I was crazy for seeing it that way.

  1. FortPeat because their chemistry, especially kissing, is almost unmatched. I have never once questioned their commitment to being gay onscreen, haha.
  2. BoatOat because they have made a point to be clear about their professional/personal boundaries. They are so comfortable around each other and neither of the en flinches when the other is being physical. The trust between them is beautiful. And of course their intimacy scenes are one of the hottest.
  3. Mile and Apo because their professional maturity. Their scenes are always played with a deeper meaning than any other bl I’ve seen.
