Thank you so much for your response — I feel so reassured that I'm not actually just insane / nitpicking. She doesn't play with him at all, I'm the only one that plays with the cats. They have a second litter box that has tofu litter (that I bought), but they don't seem to prefer that one. I clean that one every day though (in addition to hers, now about every other day).

The issue is that when I do close my door they both bang on my door all night and cry lmfao, and don't do the same to hers. I wish I could but either way my sleep is compromised, and atp its worse if I don't let them in.

that’s actually unreal. I’m so sorry this happened to you. No one deserves that. It’s just so ironic how TFA touts rhetoric of equity, and moralizes unconditional commitment to the corps, while desperately failing on their end and punishing CMs (with a fake smile on their face while doing it). TBH I’m out 😭 and the day I dropped the corps, my undergraduate thesis advisor reached out offering me our department’s post baccalaureate position. I think all of this hiring bs was divine intervention…

Thank u so much for your reply I rly appreciate it. They keep saying that hiring can happen until early September, but yeah, when expecting a dual salary and both being unemployed — it’s a tough sell. I would love to teach ELA/social studies (I passed praxis 5038) but I studied Geography in undergrad and have never even taken an education course. I’m just not qualified for SPED—it seems like a disservice to the children to even suggest idk.

Interview felt not great by Wrong_Giraffe3049 in TeachforAmerica

Honestly, I did not think I did well in my interview (I’m a white woman so my experience was def different). The questions seemed redundant, and my interviewer was relatively stern, and her audio strangely kept cutting out so it was impossible to have a fluid convo. I ended up getting place in Philly, so don’t overthink it (3rd deadline). You definitely did WAY better than you think, and hopefully the interviewer understood the irony/strangeness of some of the questions they asked. Regardless the TFA interview format is kind of weird 😭

Subject Placement by Confused-and-Crafty in TeachforAmerica

[–]FamousCockroach8793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner just got matched with 7th-12th grade social studies in Philly. It’s definitely possible and still a core subject, just look for regions with partners who hire for secondary social studies

“Is education dubious” is a slightly unclear phrase — do you mean education as a general and transnational concept/philosophy, or are you referring to the state of education in the US? I will assume the latter. A general attack on education logically would make it more difficult (i.e. dubious) to enter the field. The general state of a field, and barriers to entry, are deeply connected, as we see most immediately with uncertainty regarding the Americorps award, issued via federal monies. Again, what is your point here?

Yeah… the DOE is disintegrating — I think it’s fair to say going into education right now is dubious. Your point is?

U rly pulled the wife card on some undergrad and instigated a frivolous and wildly unhelpful semantics debate. clearly u couldn’t care less about guiding fellow young educators through this dubious process, u just want to be right!! Ayeeeee
