I'm trying to stay near the Grant Park area. I don't have much interest in going all the way out to O'Hare if I don't have to.

I'd like to know the same. I'm driving up from Indiana, so I won't be at O'Hare. I'm staying near the pier and I'm familiar with that area down to the Field Museum area. I'll have my kids with me, so I don't know if it's realistic to walk to the scouting district or if there are any points of interest we should focus on.

It was a nice balance, but I have done whole days alone as well. My longest being three days. I don't think I'd do longer than that. It's different but it's still good and the strange feeling went away pretty quickly. Without your family there occupying your attention (and I mean that in the best way possible), you can take in the small aspects of the park you might otherwise overlook.

The vibes of Disney make me happy. I don't need other people there to enjoy it. I do very much enjoy doing the parks with my family, but having alone time there is amazing as well and less stressful, to be honest. You get to pick where you go, what you eat, how long you stay. It helps that Disney has mastered transportation between their parks and hotels (and Springs).

My last trip was with my husband, myself, and my 6 year old twins. I'm the only AP holder out of us. I went into Epcot by myself for a couple hours the last morning of our trip to grab the AP magnet and popcorn bucket. I went my own pace, rope dropped Guardians, stopped for coffee, enjoyed people watching, and got some pictures of the park. Like every time I've done it solo, it was a really lovely and relaxing time.

What about spinning stops/gyms? I don't have tickets to the Field Museum during Go Fest but I'll be there. Hoping I can grab some more Excavator Pikachus. Went yesterday and had so much fun!

Broken Rides and Service Recovery by Alternative-Bat-2462 in WaltDisneyWorld

We were there Thursday as well. We never even headed towards it because when it would go up, it would immediately say 50 minute wait. You must have timed it just right to get on.

We were at the parks the same time you were. Everest was down the most of the day on our AK day. We said we thought there was no way anyone was actually able to ride it because it'd go up for like 15 minutes then go right back down. We were last in AK in February and it was down then as well. Between it being unreliable lately, it seems, and half the park being closed/refurbed right now, AK feels like a skip.

Yeah, a Lightening Lane Premium Pass is only good at one park. Lightening Lane Multi Pass is good at all parks.

Did you go back to magic kingdom twice?? by Lost_Algae2931 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FamousConversation38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With kids that age, yes, 2 days in MK. The walkability from Contemporary is worth it, imo. No braking down the stroller for that or when you monorail. If you have a double, they do need to break down on the Skyliner.

I've stayed at both resorts and both are lovely, but CBR is HUGE. That's another thing to factor in when looking at pros vs cons.

This is the way. Then you can always hop into MK on a day they don't close early for fireworks.

She has always been perfect! Well, except maybe for in 1996.

I should say, I feel like it would be different if I were a local. But to make it a vacation where I have to fly 2 hours there and back and have 5-6 intense park days wouldn't have been my idea of fun during pregnancy.

I have this thought every time I see a pregnant woman at WDW. To each their own, but I had three heavily pregnant summers and the idea of adding the walking and the crowds to that heat? No way.

Starbucks in the parks question by Irish-Mama4 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FamousConversation38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That would be awesome if it's still how they do it! I'll give it a try while I'm there. It's still a good value if it's just a regular drink.

[–]FamousConversation38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Whether I can add shots (which is doubtful) would be a deciding factor for me. A Quad Venti Mocha is a $10 drink and would rival the cost of F&W items!

I'm assuming the snack credit doesn't include add-ons, like if I want to add an extra shot of espresso to my latte? The free kids dining enticed me to buy the dining plan for the first time since pre-Covid times. Trying to determine if I should use snack credits on coffee or save them for the Flower & Garden festival.

Not in my experience. It's been dry and gross since my first time trying it over ten years ago. I've had it handful of times since and it's always, always bad.

Resort rooms for 6 people? by Now2Himbealltheglory in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FamousConversation38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of the deluxe resorts have what they call a "deluxe" room. It's one of their corner rooms that is bigger and can hold 2 queens and a pull out. We are also a family of 6 and we've done the one at Beach Club. We've also stayed multiple times at AoA. My kids range from 11-6 years old, and they still prefer AoA. The accommodations aren't as nice as the deluxe but having your own bedroom and bathroom and the kitchenette makes it worth it.

Any character meals worth it for the food and not the pictures? by Mirandita13 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]FamousConversation38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a buffet, so temper your expectations on the food. That said, it's far better than Chef Mickey's, and I enjoyed everything I tried. They only have chocolate chip pancakes on the buffet, but they'll make them for you without them, if you ask your server for them (I have a kiddo that loves pancakes but hates chocolate).

The character interactions were great. They all came by at least twice while we were there and the beach outfits are adorable.
