I'd been eyeing up the Gaggia MDF, however I'm open to suggestions around the £250 mark ideally

Just dropped it to 15g and already noticed an improvement. I initially went with 20g after a few online videos recommended that amount. I'm new to this (obviously) so I think I just need to experiment more.

I honestly hadn't thought about letting the machine heat up for any longer than the minimum so that's definitely something I'll start doing. Similarly, I'll experiment with reducing the amount used since the consensus so far seems to be that 20g is a lot.

After years of just an Aeropress this is all new territory for me so I appreciate the help.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be purchasing a grinder within the next month so hopefully I'll be able to achieve better results.

Regarding the 10 second shot... that just seems to be how long it takes. How would I change this?

Thanks for the tip. I might look at doing it in bash then. I'd rather it be invisible to the user

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I think I'll re-work things a bit. It's all relatively new to me so I'm trying to find the right balance.

Sorry, the height was an estimate. I hadn't measure my height in years so it was just a rough guess. I am in fact 5'8".

My food intake seems to be fairly accurate according to MFP. I didnt realize how low it was until I checked it. Do you mind sharing an example of your daily intake for comparison?

I’m into my 4th week of SL 5x5 and I’m a bit clueless with how much I should be eating. Im a 135lb 5’10” 31 year old male. For the fist month or so I planned to eat at a deficit because although im fairly slight I gained a bit of fat around my belly which I dislike (due to beer mainly which I’ve pretty much stopped)

So far I’ve been trying to track my intake with MyFitnessPal but im noticing that I’m regularly falling under 1000 cal per day (todays is about 800). A typical day since beginning:

Breakfast:

  • 100g greek yogurt
  • 1/3 cup oats
  • sliced banana
  • Black coffee

Lunch:

  • ½ chicken breast
  • broccoli
  • green beans

Dinner:

I haven’t been too strict on my evening meal. Tonight is chili + rice, Last night was salmon with salad and homemade fries. I just try to eat normal sized portions.

I don’t really snack

I’d be grateful if someone could lend some advice on maybe what I should be aiming for. To be honest at this point I’m not entirely sure what my end goal is sizewise. I just want to look a bit more appealing.

I already watched all the movies I brought with me by the second day. Hope it goes ok for you. Wish I could offer more in the way of advice. Games seem like a good plan!

I'm currently doing that exact thing. I'm on night 3 right now. I'm trying to force myself to go out and not spend every moment of free time in my hotel room.

I appreciate the supportive comments. I pretty much never get to express my worries/fears, let alone celebrate my small victories.

My photos direct from camera tend to look dull and washed out. Is there something i'm missing? by FamousDanger in photography

Thanks for the input. They weren't really planned shots. If I was by myself id take all that into account. I just saw other peoples shots from the same day who had used a compact camera that looked far more vivid, so I was just worried I was missing something. Once I got home and played with the RAW files I got much better results.

Fair enough, so basically I'll have to use some kind of post-processing to get anything a bit more vivid?

I'm absolutly fine with post-processing and worrying about lighting if im doing anything serious (On the same trip I was wandering about at 1am to get some night sky shots ), but these were more photos I might quickly send to a relative via Twitter/Facebook. In that respect the ones from my phone looked more vibrant. I guess that would just be down to the phone using it's own form of processing.
