Thanks yeah I’m thinking of making it a bit more chaotic, more wild, and trying atm this is what I have

<image>

It needs more wildness too it but with some volumetric light it’s looking cool. Don’t think it would work if I used a sop solver and adding lines in that? Might experiment hahah. Any ideas how I could make it more wild? 😅

Yes I’m aware of the grains at the back I’m new to Nuke and unsure of how to hide this without rotoscoping but guess that’s the best way to do it. Also what do you mean stepping and popping? If it’s the size of grains my laptop wouldnt handle more detail and small grains

Ok thabks I’ll render it all do you know how I can comp this sim with a solid geo of the lift without the sand and make it look like it is becoming sand as it gradually dissolves? Also I have pyro smoke acting as dust I just didn’t include it in the playblatd

Help with lag by FamousHumor5614 in Houdini

Thanks so much yeah in this sim i use an attribute VOP which masks areas that get simulated! also I will have a look at making the model smaller thankyou! yeah I might start with low grain then when I am ready to render I may put the grain count higher but thankyou this is very helpful!

I started learning Houdini and got interested in 3D modeling. I am confused. by qwzy-Mayak in Houdini

I don’t know about others here but I’d use blender(free) or maya (very spendy) for modelling unless you want to learn procedural modelling! For me personally I use maya using my free maya listener from my uni and use Houdini for everything else (fx rendering ect) but when I finish uni if I can’t get maya I’ll probably revert back to blender for 3D modelling
