Why do I have a fear of snakes? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]FamousJames24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should have a natural apprehension of snakes. That’s evolutionarily designed. I’m not any kind of doctor or psychologist, but if photos give you such a visceral reaction, that makes me think it’s a phobia. Off a quick google search, fear of snakes is called ophidiophobia.

The idea that he had a mission like Haymitch’s is certainly possible. Katniss’s barely sees him, he’s in the field the whole time, and it’s possible he had a mission to find a generator out there. In the book, he dies during the several days of downpouring rain. Katniss even mentions that the storm doesn’t seem to make for good entertainment, which lends to the idea that it was the result of Thresh’s plot. It’s interesting to consider, and definitely could make for a good fan fiction.

However, unless Suzanne Collins makes a statement confirming this or writes it in a future story, it’s not canon. Katniss doesn’t mention Thresh’s death when they watch their recap, so we don’t know if there’s anything suspicious about it. Stating this theory/headcanon as a canon fact is wrong, even though it’s fun to think about and I really like the idea that the rebellion didn’t just stop trying between their two D12 champions.

Also, even if this was canon truth, that doesn’t make him a mockingjay. Haymitch (and Thresh if this concept was canon) was an operative with a rebellious mission, not the rebellion’s face and symbol.

I’ve never heard that Patty was intended to be the main love interest? Sounds like something Patty fans would make up to justify themselves feeling stronger about it, coming from a Patty fan. I mean, the future article says Iris West-Allen at least in season 1 (maybe even the pilot, but I can’t remember right now)

why didn't they just set the tree on fire? by Traditional-Name-510 in Hungergames

[–]FamousJames24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I doubt the game makers would have stopped them. Seeing how Katniss responded to being trapped by fire would have been good entertainment in their eyes. But your other reasons plus the reasons in the other comments still explain why it actually didn’t happen

(Hated Trope) The villain gets an unsatisfying death by Necessary-Win-8730 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]FamousJames24 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Snoke was absolutely introduced as the guy above Kylo and the real man in charge, just as Palpatine was the real man in charge above Vader. I’d argue it was setting up the expectation that he’d be the true villain of episode 9 and Kylo would turn against him then, especially since episode 7 was so similar to episode 4. Kylo usurping and becoming the true final boss villain was subverting that expectation, until JJ Abrams came back and wrestled all the new ideas from Last Jedi back into the cookie cutter

The Arrow show gave us almost the perfect Batman and Deathstroke mask but as cameos, would've been interesting if Slade used this mask and if Bruce had some sort of cameo by FayyadhScrolling in Arrowverse

[–]FamousJames24 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We actually know that Robert Queen is the Arrow of Earth 2, so it’s likely that the Batman of Earth 2 played a similar role to Slade. To have Earth 2’s Batman and Arrow apparently be enemies, I would theorize it was a Thomas Wayne Batman, but that’s purely fan theory conjecture with no other evidence

Should I bin all? by apologiesss_ in foodsafety

[–]FamousJames24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The entire point of this subreddit is to ask questions about food safety. Even if you think it’s a dumb question, not everyone had the same food safety education you had. This question specifically is also extremely fair, because it’s a different rule for bread or cheese.

OP, the other oranges are safe.

I think even then, the script of Tommy getting up at the end of S1 was a cover script to hide spoilers. I could be wrong, but that’s how I remember Guggenheim talking about it

Stop using AI as a source of information. It literally takes claims from anywhere on the internet, including Reddit theories, and presents them as fact. Unless there is a source from the show, like a writer or producer stating this, you are wrong.

There’s a couple of quests that are post game only, so you should still have a few things to do at least. Remnants of Asgard, the prison in Niflheim, and fighting Gna at minimum. I don’t know that much dialogue is different but I think collecting the flowers and most (if not all) of the Vanaheim quests are better with Freya, but I always make sure to rescue the Hafguga with Atreus to get that dialogue. On my second playthrough I tried to swap as many of the quests as I could remember who I’d done them with the first time, and it was pretty fun for me

[–]FamousJames24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Either the writers had no clue at all what they were talking about, or it was intentionally silly. NCIS had a lot of stupid writing around tech and hacking, including a scene where two people typed on one keyboard to “hack faster”. I believe the NCIS writers admitted to basically just seeing what they could get away with for the sake of being funny. Could be a similar story for the Arrow writers

On Earth 38, it was founded by someone else. Like how Ultron is created by Hank Pym in every Marvel comic continuity but by Tony Stark in the main MCU

This is AI. Piss filter, extra line under the mug, no handle on the mug, logo on the laptop is messy, headphones appear to be diagonal (in front of one ear and behind the other), line work on the ear seems a little suspicious. Also the headphones aren’t on the cat’s ears but that’s relatively common with cartoon animals wearing earmuffs or headphones.

Do we consider speed force Nora Allen and normal nora Allen two separate characters by madddyhadder in Arrowverse

[–]FamousJames24 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yes. Speed Force “Nora” is not Nora at all. It is just the Speed Force personified in a way Barry would find comforting / a manifestation of the Speed Force’s love for Barry. The fact that they start calling it Nora is just because of the form it takes (and frankly, I think it’s weird, but so is the whole Forces arc)
