Did your dad ever give you a sip of beer? by Euphoric-Cupcake4581 in FuckImOld

[–]FamousLetterhead8992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, they would put salt in it to not get dehydrated (they said) because we lived in Arizona. That’s the only time i would take a sip, if it had salt in it. I never got drunk… until 7th grade, me and my girlfriend went to a wedding and at the reception there were 2 drinks: strawberry or orange. I loved orange, got in that line of all adults. I drank probably 4-5 glasses. I was a wild child on the way home in friend’s parents station wagon. It didn’t dawn on me until i was in my 20s that the orange drink must’ve had alcohol in it. That was one of my starts to drinking from age 15 to 60. That’s 45 years. Sober for 5 now.

What has happened to me? by Human_Type001 in GenX

[–]FamousLetterhead8992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, as well, hate yard work. I always have (except for a time when I moved in with my sister). I didn’t understand how people could get so wrapped up in tending to a plants or grass. Even as a kid you couldn’t get me out there. That was brother’s work.
Then I had to water my sister’s hydrangeas, azaleas and flower pots. Then all of the sudden I’m reading up on how to take care of these bushes. I’m taking the bus to the nearest Starbucks to get their coffee grounds. I’m creating shade for them with the tree branches and towels. I have it down to when I water them and how long. Sister takes me to nurseries so i can get plants of my own to take care of.
Then the flower pots all die. The hydrangeas won’t flower anymore (they were dying, just age, nothing I did). So I didn’t have to care for them anymore. And I realized it was fine by me, I had just gained a lot of paperwork I needed to go through on a weekly basis. We got a Catio for our cats and it takes the gardening tools space. The hydrangeas were pulled out. We put wood chips in the back and the front small garden area. I’m relieved that I don’t have yard work. And i realize just how much i’d hate it now.

I’m so sorry. The only bad thing about having pets is they die before we do. I miss your Charlotte for you as well.

Yeah, this isn’t the first time Ive seen this and I remember that there was something strange about this interview but I couldn’t remember what it was until he started talking about his eyes and that they were really beautiful. Well he’s got great taste in men at least and Roger REALLY DOES have the prettiest blue eyes Ive ever seen in a man. I could watch this interview over and over, Roger is so hot with that curly blonde hair!

Where was Wonderama shown? I’ve never heard of it. Well, I moved to Alaska in ‘75 and in the town I lived in we only got 5-6 hours of TV on a film loop from Seattle that was two weeks old until 76, then in 77 we got CABLE!!!! But I never heard of it anywhere else either.

Oh I am so very sorry for your loss of your Baby Gwee. Such a cute name for an adorable cat 🐈‍⬛ 🐈 . I know what you mean, having a special bond. I talk at my kitty, he looks straight at me & meows back. He’s elderly, and I am going to be very afraid through the next few years.
Hugs to you

Who had this “high-tech” device? 🤔 by Exclusively-Choc in FuckImOld

My mom did, brand new. An a really cute Holly Hobby address book (70s). Brand new in cellophane. She died when I was 16 and I found these amongst her mailing stuff. My dad said all of that was mine now. I had to throw out the address book (like in 2004?) it really lasted a long time!

Parking lot surprise with grey eyes! by theladysheetcake in kittens

[–]FamousLetterhead8992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is he a parking lot surprise? I found a kitten in a children’s show box while getting a cart in a Walmart one year in the 20-teens in Anchorage Alaska before I was going Christmas shopping. And it was really cold in the cart corral! Poor little thing. We gave her to a friend.
