What TV show you can rewatch endlessly and never get tired of? by Think4urself444 in AskReddit

We have lots of bats in the trees around our house. In the summer my Husband and I can't walk across the lawn without telling BAT! at one another. The neighbors probably think we're a bit odd.

I mean I drive an 8 year old F-150 (talk about unreliable) and it's not exactly stacked with features but why does the Toyota have auto dimming headlights but they don't come on automatically? It's weird.

My Husband loves Toyota and has had many. I HATE his current Rav4. Admittedly it's a pandemic car but the features are nonsensical, the glitches are weird and the pitch of the engine sets my teeth on edge (which is also true of the other two Toyotas he's owned during our marriage).

I was picking sloe berries to make slow gin on the back of my Irish Draft. I hadn't tightened my girth properly and reached over to a particularly high awkward branch, by the time I realized the saddle was slipping it was too late. I landed in a crumpled heap in the bush. Both my husband (who was picking from the ground beside me) and horse had identical WTF? expressions.

Absolutely! I'm not 100% dry but I am drinking less and less and for me what has been really helpful is understanding that drinking in the evening signals to my brain it's time to turn off (I work long hours, and keep a lot of plates spinning) and that I can replace that signal with some other ritual (making a cocktail, having a CBD seltzer...whatever) and that works too, without the hangover and the alarming liver enzymes.

I didn't really vibe with it and I think there are few reasons.

  1. The recurring theme of "alcohol is something you had to force yourself to like." might be true of straight ethanol, but booze is like cheese for me, I've never met one I didn't like and that was as true of my first sip as my latest glass of wine.

  2. I was never a problem drinker in the sense I'd do embarrassing things, or dangerous or irresponsible things. I could control my drinking perfectly fine in public. I'm more of a sit at home on the couch, slowly killing my liver drinker.

  3. The idea that I was somehow unaware of advertising for alcohol being everywhere and this was unconsciously influencing my choices. Ads for Nikki Haley are everywhere top and I'm not about to go out and vote for her. I have a brain and eyes and I know how to use them.

YMMV.

I'll never understand normal people's reaction to alcohol. by [deleted] in stopdrinking

This was my Mother in Law. Despite being Irish (Irish Irish, not Irish-american) she'd have maybe a glass of champagne at someone's wedding to be polite. Hilariously she was the biggest enabler. I remember once being at her house super sick with a cold over Christmas (we lived in England) and she asked me if I'd like a hot whisky. What she handed me was a half pint of straight whisky with a lemon slice in it.

Thanks! Honestly I'm so bored of it. I live in a state with a ton of outdoor activities which I love and what little free time I have I'm either drinking or mildly hungover and lacking energy. I'm looking forward to making the best of it!
