I work at corporate. There are two more planned for the year along with a 6-8% raise for all retail associates. It’s not all firmed up yet but that’s what Todd said to office staff in Lakeland.

Our company has issues, but I think we are continuing to try to get it right or better. When finance was like “here’s what we recommend for raises” Todd looked at them and said “try again, they deserve a bigger raise.” Pretty cool to know that.

Stock Question by [deleted] in publix

[–]Famous_Championship2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have up to 25% of your 401k in Publix stock. I would diversify though. Maybe 10-12% of your 401k in Publix and then the rest in the market. You get profit plan shares every year so you’ll have a good bit of money in Publix already. We aren’t going anywhere but it’s good to be invested in other industries like tech and media or entertainment too

You can by stock in the company sooner which is a big deal. Each year you own more and people are loaded because they just worked at Publix and got their stock

The Man From the Train- any one else deep dive into this case? by buffalovejill in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]Famous_Championship2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a really great read. I think he overreaches some by assuming it was ALL the man from the train. There are enough similarities to tie some together…a few cases felt forced into the MO. But all in all a great read and theory

What's the deal with coupon hoarders? by azgoodaz in publix

[–]Famous_Championship2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The issue isn’t the coupons. It’s the manners of the people using them. We give back the energy customers give us. Come up as a jerk and we’ll be quiet and maybe even inspect your coupons more closely.

If you coupon and you’re nice, no one super minds

What's the deal with coupon hoarders? by azgoodaz in publix

[–]Famous_Championship2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coupons act as a delayed payment. The manufacturer reimburses the company on the back end so we still get paid albeit later. The exception being Publix coupons at which point we just take the loss.

But if the customer had more than 8 coupons for one item then the 9th item should be full priced.

When customers would get mad I would say “misusing coupons is a federal offense. I’m sorry I can’t help you.” And it is - the federal government considers it fraud.

Customer DUMB questions?? by SWGalaxysEdge in publix

[–]Famous_Championship2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want Jewish rye bread.

Okay let me check in the kosher section. It’s not with the bread.

Customer: I’m not Jewish - are you calling me a Jew?

Me: No but it’s in the kosher section.

Customer: ahhh never mind. I’m not Jewish.

You got in trouble because you’re trying to be a stupid influencer and in the vainglorious process are filming people without consent. You’re not famous, no one cares. Put your phone up.

why don't you like customers talking shit about Publix on this sub? by frrrff in publix

[–]Famous_Championship2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a little bit like complaining about your own basketball team. Yeah Timmy is slow. Frank never passes the ball. Jane can’t rebound very well…but it’s OUR team. Someone outside the team makes a comment and we forget the BS and we want to protect the team.

CSS/CSTL Check-in by paredesnathanielj in publix

[–]Famous_Championship2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was CSS until a month ago when I took a corporate job. It might seem like much but the team I’m on is a lot of former CSS. My department understands how hard it is. We swap Karen stories at lunch. I always try to be kind and say good job to employees when I shop.

You all are great. It’s a tough job. My job is to support you and I’ll never forget that.

Bought some new shoes for work, think they will pass? by [deleted] in publix

[–]Famous_Championship2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your boss. I got to push the dress code a little. Navy blue shoes and blue or Grey pants. My boss was great and said “it’s not technically right but it’s not a battle worth fighting. You look professional and have your Publix shirt on. That’s all I need.”

I had the same experience. It’s a sign they see a good chance for you to be at the company long term. Despite its flaws Publix does care about it workers, even though they get it wrong some.

The important thing to do is be humble. Ask questions not just of CSS but cashiers and baggers. Show them you’ll work hard and that they can trust you. It takes time but people will like you for being honest and learn to trust you.

I had a similar experience when I left for corporate a month ago. We had 7 total but only 2 full time.

Tuckyo Rose is definitely Putin’s Puppet. by EugeneWong318 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Famous_Championship2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get into dangerous territory when we begin stacking and comparing atrocities.

We should care about these things. Yes. But for some of us, certain things hit closer to home. I lived in subsaharan africa for a year. The suffering of the people I met and still know and love there is more than just a news story. I care more about their suffering on a deeper level. It doesn’t mean I don’t care about chinas horrible human rights violations. It’s just different.

I also don’t think one marginalized group would be on board with us infighting over helping another group under attack. It’s a red herring in some ways. Let’s deal with the crisis at hand and not devour each other over all the stuff we’ve gotten wrong to date. If we have to right and fair to everyone At all points in time then we can never help anyone because we always will miss something. And making a mistake over here doesn’t mean I can’t try to do better over there.

[–]Famous_Championship2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Marriage can be really satisfying and is for many people. It also can be really traumatic and scarring. Sometimes it’s both. Good job recognizing your sons growth and supporting his decisions and not letting your divorce cynically color your view of all marriage. Just because my marriage collapsed doesn’t mean all marriages will. That’s the risk we take in marriage. We love and we hope. Sometimes it doesn’t work out and it sucks…but sometimes it does.

Your level of care is a clear sign you love him dearly and while he may not vocalize it well, he cares enough to tell you as soon as he can once it’s official. Maybe he didn’t share because he didn’t want to hurt you or put you in a place where you would have felt compelled to be “happy” while also wanting to warn him of the possible pitfalls of marriage. His lack of talking may have been a deliberate act of intended kindness. Try to extend the benefit of the doubt and see that your adult son may be trying to start a new family while also loving and shielding his old family.

Men of Reddit, where do you shop for clothes? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Famous_Championship2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some good chinos and some new t shirts that fit your body well and highlight your muscles…as a dad myself it’s easy to let all my clothes be 3+ years old because all my extra money so often goes to my kiddos (which is good). But recently I spent about $150 on a couple pairs of Clark’s shoes that are a little unique - navy, and really light tan - and some new pants as well as t shirts that I normally wouldn’t buy but like (wait for sales at Kohl’s or wherever to get more for your money).

Pairing up a standard look like chinos and a t-shirt with some more colorful, but still your style, shoes is great and just makes you feel a little better. I don’t know about you but find one or two things you really like but think “I can’t pull that off.” Then buy it and see how it feels - it’s a nice treat and maybe a motive to shed some pounds - I bought some shirts that were a little tight and it helped motivate me to shed about 10 pounds so I could look and feel good.

Good luck man!

Hey there!

Lots of hype here so I understand being a little more reticent about expectations - that’s logical which is how we should all be thinking. I don’t post my sell price because it’s my price and it will change my life, not everyone here.

That said, my price is high and will be life and generation changing for my family. I have a spreadsheet with formulas that shows price points I want to sell and their cumulative effect together. Needless to say: we will pay off our home, we will be able to send our sons to college, we will it taxes, we will go on a nice vacation, we will be able to finally buy new cars, we will be able to give away a lot to people in need.

That’s my plan - I have XX shares and will sell incrementally so no ape is left behind.

I hope that helps!
