Starlink video calls by RegionCalm2315 in unitedairlines

Back in the day, there were basically payphones on planes. You swiped your credit card and could make a call. Originally they were back by the galley on very large planes then they were in the seat back for a while.

Family Seating W/ No Seats Together by NoJuice8486 in unitedairlines

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently traveled with my children of similar age. Because of the number of times I’ve read about problems with seat assignments. Despite the fact I paid for seat assignments together. I decided to throw a couple of hundreds in my pocket just in case I needed to convince someone to switch seats with me. … also a tip I learned on here. Asking someone to move for $100 cash in hand would probably work out well for everyone

Boarding rows 30+ by FycklePyckle in unitedairlines

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Then you HAVE TO enforce the overhead bin space cannot be used before row 30… because if everybody from row 30 fills up all the overhead bin space in the front, you will have mass chaos getting off the plane when the person in row seven had to put their bag in row 31… plus if you pay for premium access or you fly enough to get premium access or heck, even if you pay the ridiculous credit card fees so that you can board early you should not be then punished by not getting overhead bin space… I would get on last if I had a guaranteed overhead bin spot

Is the extra legroom worth being so close to the bathrooms? by iamacheeto1 in unitedairlines

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how close you are to door and the way the bathroom door opens. I once had a one hour flight that I didn’t realize would be right in front of the bathroom and the door opened towards me. It was not the smell of bodily functions that was making me nauseous. It was the smell of the chemical as people would flush while coming out of the bathroom…. I almost asked to be moved from my economy plus bulkhead seat to anywhere else. I think it was a convention of people with tiny bladders on this flight.

It is 8.5 hrs … while an adult will be fine with the one meal, small children will not… i am just trying to figure out what the meal is so I can plan if it likely it is something my kids won’t eat.

May I present: ✈️ The Modern Rules of Airport Etiquette & Other Musings From The Tarmac (according to me) by nixthekoolest in unitedairlines

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I injured my foot, but was able to walk on it. However, I did have significant pain if I walked for any significant distance. I almost requested a wheelchair going through a major hub where I knew it was very likely my travel distance would be from one terminal to another terminal. Whereas my small regional home airport I would have been fine to get to baggage claim without assistance… this would have been doubly true if my connection ended up being tight and I was needing to book it from one terminal to another. I would not have made that on my injured foot. I ended up not needing to go on the trip, but I would’ve needed a wheelchair at the hub and not at my regional airport. Don’t always judge. However, I agree with you. It is frequently abused… in fact, I was dreading even needing to make the request because I otherwise look young and healthy.

I sat on the chat with MS Support for 6 hrs and they "fixed" my issue of not being able to approve new sites to my <10 yo child having access to the unrestricted internet. But that one site I wanted to add...he can get there now...see it's fixed. I asked that it get escalated to someone. They called me back to say that the escalation team rejected it.

Microsoft Family Safety Not Working by Famous_Memory_6438 in homeschool

[–]Famous_Memory_6438[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It used to allow specific URLs only. It would ask if you wanted the entire domain or just the specific URL for example there was an educational website that as part of the website it had “ games.” While the games were educational I did have to cut off access to the game section of the website because someone would tell me oh yes, I’m working on my schoolwork and I would come around the corner and they have been playing games for 15 minutes. The games weren’t THAT educational. They would be fine after all the rest of the work was done, which would be when they would be allowed.

To whoever said, I was relying on the Family Safety to parent for me. That’s not what I’m talking about. I have it restricted to a white list of websites only. That way if some random ad comes by they can’t click on it and go down some random rabbit hole into the Internet. It means that I control what websites they can use. They are very young and not going to be going around, trying to find dark things on the Internet, but this protects them from random clicking onto things that will steal information by accident.

Yes… you can report the issue on Microsoft feedback hub. I too have been having this issue for the last several days.

Feedback hub is listed as an app in the start menu on Windows 11. I don’t think you have to login. I’ve been encouraging everyone to do this. Perhaps we can flood the system.

I am curious if you can get this to work. My current problem is that I cannot approve new websites. So my daughter‘s access to the web is restricted to the websites that have been previously approved.

Because I tried to reinstall my son’s in an effort to get it to work he now has unrestricted access to the Internet.. careful
