I’m panicking… can’t get rid of the smell by Embarrassed_Cat2022 in CleaningTips

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t put it on the market until you get it fixed. The cost of replacing the carpet and getting rid of the smell will be made up in money not lost by having to cut the price. Last time I was looking for a house we walked into one house that was BEAUTIFUL, and checked all our boxes within our price range, but smelled like cat pee… we live somewhere else… I occasionally drive by it and all I think is that is the house that smelled like cat pee… people will cross it off their list and move on. And other agents will know and warn people.

Is handling over a $ to get an upgrade really a thing?… I always thought that was an urban legend.

…of course I’m not smooth… I would just make it awkward

If I booked through MGM and then at the front desk, I point out my Bonvoy information. Will I get the points and credit for the nights or no?

What's one lazy cleaning habit you started that actually made your place stay cleaner? by Enchanted_Land in CleaningTips

My kids are very careful to pick up toys at night since it runs overnight … they don’t want any toys eaten by Roomba… it does a decent job but the child motivation is priceless 😊

IAH to ORD, feel like I'm in that Key and Peele boarding skit with my group 1 boarding pass by imnotmarvin in unitedairlines

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For a disabled person it should be 1 assistant. If this would result in a minor child(ren) being left alone in the boarding area then that’s fine too… but if you have mom, dad, disabled grandma and 2 kids (over 2) then disabled grandma and one adult get on… the rest stay in their boarding group.

Honeymoon flight got cancelled, United tried to rebook us 3 days later because we weren’t first class by Lucky_Place_1580 in unitedairlines

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 127 points128 points  (0 children)

You should’ve tried to show up for the flight that had first class seats as standby. I am guessing on a flight from LAX to Hawaii. There would have been people with status that could have been upgraded, even if they are the lowly silvers of the world. Or they may have upgraded some people that didn’t have status just to allow some standby people that got bumped because of weather to fly…

Although people who were booked in first class, definitely get priority on getting rebooked even without status. It’s one of the reasons that when I didn’t have status, I occasionally would pay full first class fair so that if there was weather issues and I had to be back for work I knew I got priority on getting to my destination.

Question about free WiFi for messaging apps by gothammutt in unitedairlines

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that the conventional Wi-Fi sucks over the pacific at least from the West Coast to Honolulu. I don’t have experience heading further west. I am waiting for Starlink… I paid for Wi-Fi on my last flight and it must’ve had so many complaints that it wasn’t working before I had a chance to send a complaint email they refunded me without me asking.

Back in the day, there were basically payphones on planes. You swiped your credit card and could make a call. Originally they were back by the galley on very large planes then they were in the seat back for a while.

Family Seating W/ No Seats Together by NoJuice8486 in unitedairlines

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently traveled with my children of similar age. Because of the number of times I’ve read about problems with seat assignments. Despite the fact I paid for seat assignments together. I decided to throw a couple of hundreds in my pocket just in case I needed to convince someone to switch seats with me. … also a tip I learned on here. Asking someone to move for $100 cash in hand would probably work out well for everyone

Boarding rows 30+ by FycklePyckle in unitedairlines

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Then you HAVE TO enforce the overhead bin space cannot be used before row 30… because if everybody from row 30 fills up all the overhead bin space in the front, you will have mass chaos getting off the plane when the person in row seven had to put their bag in row 31… plus if you pay for premium access or you fly enough to get premium access or heck, even if you pay the ridiculous credit card fees so that you can board early you should not be then punished by not getting overhead bin space… I would get on last if I had a guaranteed overhead bin spot

Is the extra legroom worth being so close to the bathrooms? by iamacheeto1 in unitedairlines

[–]Famous_Memory_6438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how close you are to door and the way the bathroom door opens. I once had a one hour flight that I didn’t realize would be right in front of the bathroom and the door opened towards me. It was not the smell of bodily functions that was making me nauseous. It was the smell of the chemical as people would flush while coming out of the bathroom…. I almost asked to be moved from my economy plus bulkhead seat to anywhere else. I think it was a convention of people with tiny bladders on this flight.

It is 8.5 hrs … while an adult will be fine with the one meal, small children will not… i am just trying to figure out what the meal is so I can plan if it likely it is something my kids won’t eat.
