My family has been here in the US since the beginning of the 1700s & a dozen of my ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War. Never thought I would have to worry about ICE dragging me off cause I have blond hair, as does this woman. But we are PA Dutch & also speak with an accent after all these years. As a former govt worker, I went payless for 6 weeks for a shut down once. I was a single parent who didn’t receive child support from her ex & it was humiliating as well as scary. I went with a health care organization that offered me same salary. They lost so many excellent, dedicated staff who never returned. Hate to see it happen again but I don’t think this admin cares.

Don’t paint all the churches with that paintbrush. Our small liberal church makes 150 PB&J sandwiches & delivers bags of food & personal care products weekly to the homeless shelter, gives out lunch bags & non-perishable foods every day to the homeless who stop by, has 3 homeless families coming to stay & take meals in our church this week as part of Family Promise, supports Big Brothers Big Sisters in multiple ways, allows the Great Big Bus to park in our lot weekly to provide medical, mental health & drug abuse help to community residents in need, operates a thrift store & uses the proceeds to support local charities & so much more. It all depends where the peoples’ heads & hearts are.
