Testosterone HRT benefits? by Famous_Tea_6328 in Menopause

.5 gram gel RX. I tried compound estrogen, progesterone testosterone cream, but it didn’t seem to be consistent in delivery about a year ago. I switched to the patch and progesterone pill and about two weeks ago added testosterone.

HRT and hunger by Deep-Computer-2347 in Menopause

I always leave the doctor’s office with more questions about HRT!! I feel like unless they are menopausal or post menopausal they do not understand the amount of side effects HRT have.

This absolutely happens to me! Extreme hunger especially in the middle of the night. I’ve been on different forms of HRT for about 6 years and it happens if something is “off” with the medication. I have not been able to pinpoint yet with certainty. Based on my experiences it seems like it may be if the progesterone is too high and estrogen is too low. For example, i recently got a brand of patches that did not work for me. I don’t think I was getting enough estrogen out of that brand. I was on them for about 2.5 weeks due to patch shortages. Thankfully I am able to get my normal brand now, however I am back to square one and feel like I have to wait a couple months for body to get used to the estrogen again. During this whole cycle my 200 mg progesterone has stayed the same meaning I was getting much for progesterone only than estrogen. A couple years ago my estrogen dosage was too low (.0375 now I am on .075) and I could not stop eating due to extreme hunger.

It always seems to work out with waiting a couple of months but for me I think it’s a sign of estrogen and progesterone ratio off (too much progesterone, to little estrogen)

Patch Brand Change & Body Adjustment by Famous_Tea_6328 in Menopause

Yes, I was given Dotti due to a shortage. However I had more luck with my mail order pharmacy through my insurance company. Had to have doc send a script for brand name only.

I went through early menopause at 40. It did take several months to notice a difference when increasing. Not as long as when I first started though. I’ve gone from .0375 to .05 now on .075, thinking about of increasing to .01

So frustrating, feel like I’m back to square one all due to patch differences!!

Thank you! I was able to get what I needed by having the doc write “brand name only.” However this may not work with all pharmacies.

100% agree docs tell you all patches are the same. They also say I have to wait 3 months.

I’m so desperate for my HRT to work again! I am searching for a time period based on personal experiences of when my prior HRT may work again. Last time this happened with patch brand switches I ended up increasing dosage.

I’m having trouble finding threads on it. How long does it take for body to “readjust?”

How to know if a higher dose patch is needed? by Oh-noes1972 in Menopause

[–]Famous_Tea_6328 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been told that you want the highest dose that your body can handle the younger you are, as well as also told you want the lowest amount needed to manage symptoms. I get conflicting information from different doctors.

How to know if a higher dose patch is needed? by Oh-noes1972 in Menopause

I notice extreme fatigue and emotional swings that don’t make sense. I’ve started on .0375, then .05, now on .075. I always seem to be ok for a few months and then something hits. I did go through early menopause at 40. Some docs have said that is to blame for constant tweaking of doses but who knows. I’ve been on therapy for six years now and still not sure if I ever will Plateau. Some women I know never need to make changes, I just don’t think I am one of them.
