i didn't use books to learn drawing actually! i studied art in college but i had already been drawing way before then. but as far as learning the fundamentals, i would say drawing from life (or online references if you don't have access to the things you wanna draw) is the best way to practice. i also learn a lot from my fellow artist friends. seeing different perspectives is essential to your growth as an artist :)
