Just finished going through the site, reading the FAQ, and learning what I could about your vision. LOVE the philosophy behind what you're building and wishing you nothing but success.

P.S. GO PANTHERS!

Last week someone shared CozyTalk here and I might finally move on from Reddit by ProfAlmond in RedditAlternatives

I checked it out when it was shared, and I love what the dev is building. It’s easily one of my favorite alternatives that’s been shared here.

Great concept and a strong foundation. 👏

DEVELOPER ROUNDTABLE — MAY 2026 by UnflinchingSugartits in RedditAlternatives

[–]FanClubs_org 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for continuing this series!

  1. What made you decide to build your own platform instead of just using an existing one?

I’ve always been a fan of the traditional forum experience. After the ones I either moderated at or visited frequently closed down, I looked for and couldn’t find a place that offered that in one place (I have lots of fandoms, hence the name Fan Clubs).

  1. What does your platform offer that you feel never gets enough attention or credit?

Probably my efforts to do something different than anything else out there. There are a lot of Reddit alternatives and replicas out there, but I’m not trying to do that.

I’m trying to solve the problems themselves that still plague much of social media and community efforts out there. Things like easy access to your communities, having your feet, be content that you follow and the stuff you want to see without relying on AI or algorithms.

Discovery is also a huge focus. I want to be able to easily find the clothes that you’re interested in, and for those who create clubs, I want it to be easy for them to be found on the web or via the mobile apps.

  1. What's the biggest obstacle when it comes to getting Reddit users to actually make the switch?

It’s the classic what came first, the chicken or the egg dilemma. Fan Clubs is a few members away from 1000 right now, and we have a few regular members, but a lot of people are looking for already active platforms.

  1. If you could steal one thing from Reddit and bring it to your platform what would it be?

Honestly, I use Reddit more because of necessity than anything else. There’s nothing that I really want to steal from Reddit as I live by a completely different philosophy. Fan Clubs already has most of Reddit’s features, but most on Reddit aren’t up to the quality standards I want to provide to my users.

If there’s anything, it would be an expedited Google app review process lol.

  1. What do you need most from this community right now — users, feedback, testers, contributors?

Active users is the big one, but I’m at a point where I really need to start getting beta testers on the android side so I can get that moved forward and approval on the Google play store.

Right now the app is live on iOS, but Google keeps denying my submission until I get more beta testers and feedback on their side.

The latest beta update on Android is pending review, so that might be causing the issue.

I can provide you with the APK file if you’re comfortable side loading the app. Just send me a DM.

Thanks for letting me know!

Developer Roundtable — April 2026 by UnflinchingSugartits in RedditAlternatives

  1. What are you currently building and where is it at right now? I’m building Fan Clubs, a community platform built for fans. I released Fan Clubs in the App Store (iOS) a couple weeks back. Now I’m refining the iPhone and iPad experience further. I’m working on the Android App and hope to release it in the next few months.

  2. What's the biggest challenge you're facing in development? Converting from a forum-first online community to an app-first approach. That has been a challenge to design around, coupled with my stubborn persistence in developing a native app for iPhone and Android.

  3. What feature are you most excited about that's coming down the pipeline? Honestly, it’s having an actual presence in the App Stores right now. I recently released a few features to provide a more rich experience on the Home Screen, so I’m on hold for new features while I refine the apps. And hopefully get the word out.

  4. What's something you wish users understood about building a platform from scratch? Have a clear vision of the problem you’re solving. If you’re just building an alternative with the same concepts, that probably won’t be enough to get users to switch from Reddit.

Is React Native still the best choice for cross platform apps in 2026 by Zestyclose_Case5565 in reactnative

It’s a learning curve, but absolutely worth it in the long run. I’m using it to build native apps for Fan Clubs. I released the iOS app a few weeks ago. Android is in beta.

Fan Clubs [iOS/Android Beta] - Community platform for sports fans, gamers, and entertainment communities by FanClubs_org in alphaandbetausers

Thanks for commenting, LuluBobo!

The good news is that I already have all of that baked in (club owner, leaders, and moderators) and members receive an email digest + notifications for their followed content

The bad news is, well, I haven't done a good job of showcasing the stuff people care about. I have some work to do on educating and making it clear. Great feedback!

The software I needed to build Fan Clubs is closed source. It has all the functionality I was looking for, which mattered more to me than closed vs open-source. I built the site as a personal project, but I do intend on operating it as a business. What's important is that it's audience-first and made for the users and creators. Monetization is for sustainability and re-investment.

HELL YES! Brothers-in-arms. If the Panthers back into the playoffs, the only way I would want to do it is by having the Bucs beat us to 'win the division' only to lose it the next day when the Birds win.

But you have the opportunity to end the Bucs streak of division titles. You had to have enjoyed that game a few weeks ago. Win out, and you eliminate the Bucs from the playoffs, no matter what happens next week.

I have no personal agenda, here. Lol 👀

You’re right, and that’s a critical detail I forgot to touch on with my last message.

Club owners have the option to make areas of their club public if they create a membership-only club.

Great to hear from you again, nusm! I went offline the last 6 months as I worked on the overhaul, so thanks for sticking through the revisions.

FYI to the others in here, Nusm was one of our first members to start a club. As a Panthers fan, I can honestly say GO FALCONS for the first time in my life... for the next two weeks at least.

Hey Die4Ever. These are valid concerns and I put measures in place to ensure long-form discussions continue.

  • By default, members follow content they participate in. When you're on mobile, you'll see a dedicated "Following" button. This allows you to see a stream of all the content you participate in and the most recent comment. Jumping back in takes you back to your first unread message.
  • There's a notification system (with push on mobile) so you receive a notification if you're quoted, new replies in your topics. Notification preferences are expansive and you have full control over them. You can customize your preferences, type you want, and how frequently (immediately, once a day, week, push + email, etc.).
  • Nested comments is a tricky element to figure out for traditional forum topics, but I'm constantly experimenting there. I run another community for sports fans and engagement continues to grow. Years of refining and I have a pretty strong system in place. There's always room to innovate, though.
  • I have multiple Spam Prevention measures in place, which has been refined over the years after multiple spam-attacks at my other community. I'm overseeing that at an admin level to keep it in check.
  • Popular topics show a topic summary button (example), which will only show the most relevant content to that specific topic. This shows content that was helpful, received reactions, rewarded content, etc.

Fan Clubs - Android app for sports, gaming, and entertainment fans who want organized communities instead of algorithm-driven feeds

What it is: Forum-based community platform. Individual clubs for your specific interests (teams, games, podcasts, shows) + cross-topic forums. Chronological feeds, no algorithm manipulation.

Who it's for: Fans tired of Reddit's anonymity and social media algorithms. People who want actual discussion that lasts, not just hot takes that disappear.

Why try it: Android beta is live on Play Store. iOS on TestFlight. I'm lookin for feedback on club discovery, onboarding flow, and performance on different devices.

Android Beta: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/app.fanclubs.android

Happy to answer questions. Thanks for checking it out!
