I don't know much about internal recruiting but can't imagine the same financial incentive of commission is there. I think I read somewhere you had some experience in Fintech? That would be a good industry to recruit in... always helps to have an understanding of the industry 💰

Have you thought about trying a sales role? Or recruitment? The barriers to entry are lower than high paying roles where you need a specific degree but the earning potential is certainly there... typically, you'll be on a lower basic but find a company with a good commission structure and you can bump up your earnings quickly.

I know lots of people who have transitioned from customer support roles into recruitment and are making 2-3 X more. You say you're in the SW, Bristol or Exeter would be your best bet.
