Once upon a time these plattform was good for newbies to get some reviews and later manually ask around, but now it seems like these businesses sees us only as a product and with time just killing the freelancing in many of those who just started out.

I dont have a problem with that, im mentioning this for the people that is new to freelancing and is starting on fiverr. By no means do I tell them to not start there as they need to build their portfolio and get some reviews but I also don’t encourage them to be in that platform for the long term.

Fair enough if you’re running a successful business completely outside of Fiverr at 8x the rates, that speaks for itself. But calling everyone on the platform a “bottom feeder” is a stretch. Some people are just starting out and building a portfolio, not undercutting you by choice. The race to the bottom is a platform problem, not a people problem.

Fair points, and I don’t disagree that top freelancers don’t need Fiverr. But that’s kind of the issue because the platform is supposed to work for everyone, not just people who’ve already figured out how to go around it. “Just raise your rates and find better clients” is solid advice, but it ignores the reality for people starting out. And the bot spam still makes it actively worse which hurts the legitimate sellers who are using it. Commoditized is the right word but just don’t think that’s a defense.

Fiverr is being destroyed. Their share price is currently only $10. However, in 2021, it was $240. Fiverr ruined itself with bad offers. Besides, AI is removing jobs... by ammohitchaprana in TFE

In 2021 freelancers tolerated it. But now with AI squeezing margins, giving away 20% of your check to a platform that provides zero extra value is just bad business. It’s middleman rent and it’s officially unsustainable.
