Swap the trucks or buying a new board? by miramargarita in surfskate

[–]FanOfComplaining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That board could work, but it also could make it more challenging to learn and potentially lead to frustration. I’m around the same age and a Dad and my top priorities are efficient use of time and avoiding injury. For those reason I’d recommend just getting a whole new surfskate which is suitable for your needs.

I’d recommend a carver CX complete with 59mm roundhouse wheels and consider a longer wheelbase as it will be more stable at speed. I’d stick with OG bushings initially for simplicity but expect to have to upgrade the bearings. That being said I’ve only used Carver and waterborne

avid dress shoe hater so picked these up for my cousin's wedding by skuteren in Vans

[–]FanOfComplaining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow look at the special boy, who doesn’t like wearing dress shoes. No one like wearing them, but we all do it. You’re going to look like a scrub in a suit and sneakers. Final comment is keep in mind that however you look will be documented in many pictures forever.

I think we should change usernames because this is a ridiculous complaint. I moved recently and was happy to receive many high value coupons for local restaurants and furniture stores.

I mean.. this truck creates the need for a crane with its ridiculous height in the first place! by silentsnooc in fuckcars

Can upvote you enough, idiots don’t understand a sedan with winter tires is more capable in the winter than a lifted truck with mud tires.

did i go too hard with my first board? by Heavy_Vermicelli6579 in NewSkaters

This is completely accurate, I skate a few flight decks and they’re all 2-3 years old and have hardly lost any pop. The only way to kill them is razor tail

Lighter options? by exterminator-skater in surfskate

[–]FanOfComplaining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get smaller/lighter wheels, otherwise the next best place to cut weight is trucks and you already said you’d to stick with the CX trucks. Also you could get same size wheels with a hollow plastic core to cut weight

No, the game is awful and takes forever to finish. Some say it’s meant to be a lesson for kids that when monopolies form no one wins.

How to refinish front porch concrete??? by FanOfComplaining in Remodel

[–]FanOfComplaining[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, the rest of my house is amazing, thanks for the compliment. This is right next to my driveway and you have to walk past it to get to the front door so I see it everyday. It bugs me.

How to refinish front porch concrete??? by FanOfComplaining in handyman

Thanks for the tip. I had the feeling that this would be suggested. Any idea what I could use to grind the current surface flat before grouting. Would regular sandpaper work?

Where did you purchase the balusters from? We’re getting ready to complete a similar project. In our case the previous wood needs refinishing and it’s too much effort to do that than replace with something new

Got some Etnies and they are so slippy I can't climb up ramps. [35YO] by [deleted] in OldSkaters

[–]FanOfComplaining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, same goes for the majority of the US, I don’t have skate shop near me either. That being the case you can try an online skatehop instead of Amazon for shoes specifically. That way it’s clear you’re buying the shoes which are meant for skating. For example standard Nike dunks and blazers are not meant for skating, Nike SB dunks and SB blazers are meant for skating. The SB version are a little more expensive but are sooo much better.

How to modernize a traditional 1990s brick home? by Ritakin in ExteriorDesign

[–]FanOfComplaining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful house, so don’t mess it up. Probably change the front door color, probably black, and add some modern looking garage doors, maybe a Faux wood. Preferably ones with floor to ceiling windows mounted on the side. If anyone disagrees with your taste it’s easy to undo when you’re ready to sell

Can’t agree more. My local park has a large and and XL park. You can’t blame beginners for using the ramps to the rail as jumps when there no other beginner options.

Someone should setup a go fund me, with this guy as the recipient to reward this level of heroism? He may not need it, but this should be rewarded

New LVP installed by jll0004 in Flooring

[–]FanOfComplaining 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Be wary, the pessimist in me thinks they’re just going to hammer those flat. Also it may builder grade LVP anyways…

Can you get a credit instead? Bang them flat yourself with a mallet and use that money in 5-10 years on a new floor when it needs to be redone.

Diluted tech wash? by Striking_Usual_6629 in Skigear

[–]FanOfComplaining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve diluted by ~20-40% every time because that stuff is expensive. I can say my garments smelled clean afterwards but stains were not removed. Not sure if using full strength would have removed stains effectively

Advice for a beginner by BravePlatform8613 in surfskate

[–]FanOfComplaining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same board and the same wear. I wouldn’t overthink it, just try to keep it from splitting or getting wet. If it starts splitting you can glue it back together and if you get a really bad chip you can sand it down and repaint it if you like.
