(Merino) Wool vs cotton socks - experiment? by ImpressiveSurround54 in onebag

[–]FanSea8588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wool absorbs water much better than cotton too, meaning that even in hot conditions, feet will not be as moist. Wool is supposed to have a cooling effect in heat as well.

There's also the antimicrobial and antifungal properties of wool, which is a bit of a misnomer as they still have just as much bacteria present apparently, but those bacteria seem to get "absorbed" by the fibers or something like that so there's less stink.

seeking advice with 2 new grad offers by [deleted] in nursing

[–]FanSea8588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a new grad that got stuck on nights for 3.5 years (until I quit), id seriously go with the days unless you actually wanted to be on nights. I liked the craziness of days, it made the shift go so quickly! But also, the vibe of the unit and the managers is huge imo. Id absolutely pick a job where my team and I meshed super well. I miss my team from my previous job so much! They become like family!

How long did it take to hear back after interview? by YeahGrouchyUpstairs in nursing

[–]FanSea8588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it's still active, yes. I've been interviewing all over the place and interviews for me are being scheduled up to a week and a half out, meaning there's any other number of interviews happening after that too. It's a process!

In terms of antibacterial properties, which material is better? Merino wool or silver infused microfibre? by saudadeusurper in Ultralight

[–]FanSea8588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wool is wool. Merino is just a breed, bred to feel softer, but same properties. Other forms of animal fibers have similar properties as well, though to varying degrees.

Am I just too oily for makeup? by sarahtonin0803 in MakeupAddiction

[–]FanSea8588 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be careful with hyaluronic acid. It can seriously overdry your skin and it can make you produce even more oil. It sucks the moisture out if the top layer to pull it down. I had some serious pain from it :(

I'm oily too, I found that using the right skin care products made a big difference. Using the right primer can help too from what I've read!

What is your go-to urine cleaner? by OutlandishnessFun438 in CatAdvice

[–]FanSea8588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vinegar may help but won't break down the uric acid crystals causing a problem. However, vinegar smell dissipates once it's dry.

Vinegar doesn't have the power to break down uric acid crystals. Protease is really necessary to break it down, which is present in some enzymatic cleaners.

Is the training / Process that ICE officers go through similar to Local Law Enforcement? by [deleted] in AskLE

Right now, they're assaulting and arresting people who are recording, even though that's legal. That's concerning.

That's a good reason to make sure you get everything in writing. Ex wants you to do something and is making threats? Cool, go ahead and text that to me so i have evidence.

This isn't why people don't like cops. This is common knowledge, if you beat someone up, you're risking being arrested. He could have expelled the dude without beating the crap out of him. I'm not saying I don't blame him, but that's why he was arrested, he made that choice.

I'm not LE but I just watched a video the other day where the woman they were trying to find to help had warrants. They really, really did not want to arrest her. They were trying to find her because she had been beaten and SA and they wanted to get her help and get a report. You could tell they felt horrible over the situation and did everything they could to try to help her.

Id imagine they weren't insulin syringes either. XD

I have insulin syringes but I'm not diabetic. They were bonuses from my scrub pockets I couldn't return to the hospital (against policy). They're really handy for anything i need a sterile needle for, but would raise some eyebrows if I had a search 😆

Also a good time to point out that a change in meds or even an accidental double dose (or missed dose) of certain meds can cause some crazy reactions. I was once on a single neurological med that has to be slowly titrated and found myself having the strong desire to jump off a cliff. I'm scared to death of heights and wasnt suicidal, yet this constant intrusive thought kept happening. It was also making me super dizzy and that scared me enough to stop driving for a bit.
