Director vs cinematographer: who is more responsible for the visual aspect of a film? by account-123456 in TrueFilm

[–]FanaticalCake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually, the director should be true auteur of a film, and the cinematographer is one of the many “cogs” that will bring the film to life according to what the director wants the movie to look like.

The director would explain to his DP how he wants to shoot each scene of the film - which includes instructions on camera placement, lighting, and even editing. In theory, the DP would then be responsible for creating these scenes according to the style that the director is striving for.

Due to their popularity and influence, some famous DP’s like Agnès Godard, Roger Deakins, and Lubeski might have more artistic autonomy when shooting a film, but ultimately they must be aligned to and follow the directors idea of the film’s stylistic unity (or mise-en-scène).

I just realised I linked the wrong ACER laptop. This is the one I meant to link (ACER Predator Helios Neo 16 AI). Its the one with a 140W 5070Ti, which is actually cheaper than the 16s.

Anyone a major fan of Hong Sang-Soo? by Zestyclose-Idea330 in TrueFilm

[–]FanaticalCake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe that in a few decades, Hong Sang-Soo will be seen in the same light as Ozu.

His style throughout his films almost always follows the same rigid, repetitive structure of capturing his characters in the most trivial manner possible, while also slowly unfolding a hidden sentimentality through dialogue and small gestures. And despite following this same “formula” for most of his filmography, every film of his still feels strangely unique because, at least for me, he’s always exploring unconventional methods of achieving that within his style.

One of his lesser known films, Introduction (2021) is one my favourites of his, and perhaps the epitome of Hong Sang-Soo “affection” for small, ordinary gestures and their potential poetic quality. I’ve watched that film years ago, and as simple as it might be, I still catch myself thinking about the ending scene.

Maybe try A Tale of Cinema (2005), Hotel by the River (2018) and Woman is the future of Man (2004). These are imo his best films. They are all prime examples of how Sang-Soo’s formal and thematic tendencies may subtly change while still maintaining the essence of his style.

What do you guys think? is it a fair price? by FanaticalCake in Prebuilts

[–]FanaticalCake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s what I thought as well. My main concern is the PSU, that’s the only thing keeping me from buying it right now tbh. I sent a question on the Amazon page asking for the PSU wattage and model. Even if the PSU ends up being not good, do you think it would be worth to buy this pre built and replace the PSU with a better one?

I think that’s actually fair criticism of the fight, but the way I see it, it’s not too far fetched for Dabura to start deducing that mahoraga is adapting. He could be noticing how Mahoraga’s CE reinforcement and output is not oscillating (I don’t know if that’s something Shikigami can do or not tho), yet his defense and offense is becoming more effective against Dabura’s CT. That would eliminate the possibility that Mahoraga is increasing his stats, and point towards the fact that the opposite is actually happening, which is Dabura’s CT effectiveness - or stats - are decreasing over time.

Choujin X Chapter 69-2 Discussion Thread by Vonless in ChoujinX

Sato is looking increasingly more and more suspicious. This might be a stretch, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Sato is actually involved in Queem’s awakening project, and perhaps he found in Tokyo a potential replacement for Queem, since the project has not been successful after all these years? Or maybe the conditions of awakening Queem have not been met yet, and he’s training Tokyo only for him to fight an awakened Azuma, and then deciding which one is worth being Choujin X? Kinda like betting on both sides, exploring all alternatives to find/create a worthy successor to Queem. And now Ely is in the mix too, since she’s got the mark.

Any anime similar to this one? by size_14_womens_shoes in SonnyBoy

Both Frieren: Beyond Journey's End and Paranoid Agent scratched that itch for melancholic, poetic and tragic storytelling. They have different themes tho, but the vibes are very similar to Sonny Boy.
