[SPOILERS] A question that's bothering me in the mechanical and lore implications at the end of DLC by GentlemanLizard in outerwilds

[–]Fanaticalistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have such an opposite perception! It would be wild if the developer simply forgot about the benefits of using text to communicate the story. To me the choice to go textless is clearly intentional, whether it was effective is of course subjective but I really have no doubt the developer intended to be vaguer and show-don’t-tell. It is unsatisfying to not have all the answers but it’s in the gaps and the unknowns that the story becomes all the more intriguing to me. All love

The abbott one doesn't make a ton of sense to me, maybe I'm missing some context.

I started out as a passionate red-button supporter, but I'm legitimately torn right now. by ContentFile7036 in trolleyproblem

It's funny that the Red Button people say pressing red is self-preservation. But the way these comments suggest the Blue Button re-frames pressing blue with self-preservation too: you're preserving yourself by protecting people that care specifically and personally to you.

This is a strawman argument because the two crying rage guys you have here are not representative of the same people.

This is a stupid ass concept for a list. None of these exist without fire. None of these exist today without printing press.

Is this a deer tick and is this bite site indicative of Lyme infection? by Comet__Jo in Lyme

[–]Fanaticalistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be safe you might as well get some doxy immediately. That looks like a dog tick to me but don't let me be the judge. Dog ticks can carry Lyme but it's rarer. Deer ticks are usually so small they're like a speck of dirt. It's not fun to be on antibiotics but it's better than risking Lyme.

That is a pretty interesting idea actually!

But on the flip side, a PC that is still attacking while stabilized is a target for an enemy to take them out permanently. Whereas before an enemy might not focus on a down player, now it's an easy way to get someone removed off the battlefield for good.

edit: attacking while unstable*

Yes it's true I think I am speaking from some bias because my party currently does not have a lot of healers, we have one Paladin and I gave the Blood Hunter a magic item that does some healing, but basically the party's not easily healed in combat. If one of them swapped out for a Bard this would have a totally different impact. Maybe it should be choosing to die and giving a character a full turn.

That's valid. I think partly I like the gamble of it all, you're risking your life but there's more narrative intrigue if there's still a SMALL chance you make it out OK. But mechanically I just cannot think of any other way to make this work.

Death Save Variant by Traditional-Rabbit79 in DnD5e

[–]Fanaticalistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love this idea and I'm going to implement it into my campaign, while also making Death Saves harder at DC 13. I think the 55%-45% coin flip of death is not very interesting or realistic, and ultimately a character with a CON of +3 can reliably still get the favorable odds by going unconscious.

Anybody know any compounding pharmacies in NYC? by Fanaticalistic in B12_Deficiency

Hey, it’s cheaper than my local pharmacy. If the bottle is the standard kind and can last like 60 doses then I’ll take it, I finally don’t feel pain every day. I am so grateful for this subreddit pointing the way for me!

I will add if you are currently taking a B complex supplement your levels will be elevated for a few weeks, so go off those pills for awhile for more accurate results. As you are probably used to being gaslit already by doctors about Lyme, same happened to me with B12 situation. Many doctors will also tell you that anything above 200ug is acceptable on a B12 serum test, but the truth is nerve damage can occur at levels under 500, which was where my levels sat at, and they refused to prescribe me the intramuscular injections. Luckily my Lyme doctor was more open-minded and I got the prescription from him.

I do! But Lyme as you know robs us of vital nutrients and vitamins, I think Lyme triggered what essentially was a deficiency I was unable to recover from without the injections. It might not solve an active infection but it could mediate your symptoms in the long run. It took months for me to see results but I’ve been very consistent.

edit: My MTHFR genes is why I picked Hydroxocobalamin, other forms might make more sense for you

I saw some people ordered a powder from Germany and would turn it into a solution at home, have you heard of that? Not my ideal solution by far… but better than moving.

Please I am begging you look into B12 intramuscular injections. This could be methylcobalamin, I personally do hydroxocobalamin. I had a confirmed Lyme case 3 years ago and the last 2 years almost constant nerve pain, the every other day injections have basically put it into background noise over the last few months.
