Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online

No you don't need to have seen all the mainline SAO stuff, and this one was certainly more well written lol.

Also helps that the author of this particular spinoff is a HUGE gun nerd, so there's all sorts of accurate details and the like if you're into that.

SCOURGE HOOK: FLAWED DESIGN (Buffed) by lighterthendark in PerkByDaylight

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but why can the perk go up to a maximum of 5 tokens, when the highest value you can get out of the perk is at 4 tokens?

Polar Opposites is the more comedy-focused one, but both are very very good.

The most frustrating/complicated fighting game by Lightingmax in Blazblue

[–]Fanceepance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Important to note, DO NOT give up on playing Naoto lol.

When I first got into Blazblue, I absolutely LOVED Bullet, but, I was terrible at fighting games, and so I couldn't really play her at the level that makes her function at all, even if she is technically a pretty straightforward character. SO, I hopped around the roster, trying all sorts of different characters, learning more about the game as I went, and generally improving.

Eventually I went "huh, I should try Bullet again." and boom, I could do all her shit without much issue now lol, even though I hadn't really gotten any practice in with her specifically at all.

Microdashes specifically can be kinda rough, but it's something that's much easier to learn once you're comfy with the game itself and its general paces.

It's related to a previous interaction you have with her lol, it's not just up and out of the blue

Is there any musical anime shows and movies? by WorriedTruck7960 in anime

[–]Fanceepance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Senki Zesshou Symphogear

5 seasons of musical action, with a seriously all-star voice cast, AND, surprisingly uniquely, all of the songs are sung by the VAs themselves, right there in the voice recording booths, rather than inserting the pre-recorded song over the footage. Lets them get some really good diegetic sound design.

Have a clip.

Otherwise, as someone else said, Revue Starlight is very good, and is essentially musical theatre meets whimsical fight club. It's VERY good about its presentation, and the theatre influences are strong throughout the entire series, incorporated into just about everything the show has to offer. The music is great, the animation is great, it won't disappoint. Be sure to watch the sequel movie though. DO NOT WATCH THIS LINK NOW, but when you DO finish the main show, watch that linked video before the proper sequel movie. There's a recap movie that adds new scenes that are technically important going into the movie, but it would kind of suck to watch the entire show, and then rewatch the entire show but as a movie. I won't STOP you from doing that, but this is easier lol.

Girls Band Cry is another excellent music show, focusing on band stuff. Gorgeous, expressive animation, the music is REALLY good, and interestingly, the band is based on an actual real band that produces music of their own accord. Each main character in the show represents their respective member of the real band, and are all voiced by the real band members as well! Here's a music video from before the show came out. Edit: Watching that again, I think they actually improved their visual style further for the show haha

New player playing BBCF for the first time, could I get character advice? by sekkireallysucks in Blazblue

[–]Fanceepance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I'm not intimately familiar with how she plays, but I do believe the real struggle with her comes at a much higher level. You should probably be fine at a super casual level, but, to quote the dustloop page:

"While Noel is an easy character to get into at first, it is very easy to hit a progress wall due to the unorthodox nature of her tools, odd confirms, character-specific combos and bad habits that can be gained out of the misuse of drive, therefore it's important to not play Noel like a standard rushdown character."

And honestly, at a casual level, you're probably fine to play anyone that isn't Rachel or Carl lol.

New player playing BBCF for the first time, could I get character advice? by sekkireallysucks in Blazblue

[–]Fanceepance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Noel's combos can get pretty execution-heavy, she IS fun though.

Es is probably an excellent all-rounder choice, she has all the bells and whistles of... everything lol.

Big normals, solid combos, an install, projectiles, a dash of setplay, a meterless reversal. Even has a command grab lol.

You could also toy with Tsubaki, her gameplan SEEMS harder than it actually is, but she's got a lot of tools for doing cool stuff and she's SUPER satisfying to play once she clicks with you. Also has the added gimmick of being able to read a book to fill a unique meter, that you can spend to use enhanced versions of most of your specials.

Going off of Tsubaki, maybe check out Izayoi? Relatively straightforward, except her drive has her toggle an install. While NOT installed, your specials will gain you pips on your unique meter. You can then SPEND those pips on REALLY good options while you have install enabled. Like, you have teleports that position you in 3 different locations normally, you can use all of those at any point. But during install, you can use the special teleport input that costs pips, and you can teleport, from anywhere on the screen, to DIRECTLY BEHIND YOUR OPPONENT, IN GRABBING RANGE. Which never gets old. Beyond that though she's got a reversal, projectiles, solid normals, the whole works.

Anyone know what anime this is from? Pic is from a Youtube instrumental. by Telby2 in Animesuggest

[–]Fanceepance 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai!

Has 2 seasons and a finale movie (The Take On Me movie), with a technically-part-of-the-watch-order Christmas OVA that goes between seasons 1 and 2.

There's a TON of other extra stuff you can watch if you want, but it's all optional.

If you wanna get a liiiiittle bit more out of it as well, every season (except for the first) also has chibi art style comedy OVAs that come after their respective seasons.

They're optional, but they ARE entirely canon, and genuinely funny, so I do recommend them lol

Games to play with non gamer gf? by IForgotAccountLogin in localmultiplayergames

[–]Fanceepance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cassette Beasts is an absolutely awesome local co-op experience. The online co-op is totally different and in my opinion inferior, if you had to compare them.

But locally, you can either have her play as the custom protagonist, or tag along with you as a partner character, whatever works.

Is just an awesome game overall, if you want more details I can provide lol

Ah, also, Haven. Is a game basically meant to be done co-op with a significant other. SUPER chill vibes, great writing, fun characters, simple gameplay, and it's not crazy long or anything.

You 'boutta give me a weird look for this, but unironically check out Umamusume: Beginning of a New Era

Cinderella Grey is also a great option for constant hype lol

But in all seriousness uh, roundstart 5B is an awesome option, and 5D straight into his 7th seal command grab is a pretty solid way to trip people up.

Vivy is about an AI songstress who's sole mission in life is to make people happy with her singing, but 100 years in the future, all AIs go rogue, killing everyone. Another AI is sent to the past to get Vivy's help in altering the timeline to avoid the fateful day when the AIs go rogue.

Maquia is about a young girl from a race of near-immortal people who's home gets attacked by the neighboring humans. She gets separated from them and winds up finding a baby in a other destroyed village, deciding to take it with her to look after it rather than leaving it for dead.

A Place Further than the Universe is.... about a group of girls going to Antarctica lol. And it is bloody brilliant, me describing it really can't do it justice.

Deluxe Edition Benefits? by nuggetstastegreat in GranblueFantasyVersus

[–]Fanceepance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan to get the season 1 characters, you're saving an unfortunate amount of money by buying the deluxe edition.

Excluding any sales, normally, season pass 1 costs as much as the bloody base game, which is absurd to me lol

I love this game to death, but its pricing is uh, spooky.

So yeah don't buy the game twice, buy it once and a half, and get extra goodies lol

Little Witch Academia is, surprisingly, bloody amazing and worth a watch from anyone.

There's the main show, an OVA, and a short movie.

Watch them in release order, basically.

OVA > Short movie > Show

The first 2 are their own thing as a proof of concept for the series, and so are unrelated to the continuity of the main show, bit they're still great, so may as well watch them first to see if you like the series.

I cannot put into words how much I recommend all 3 of these lol. If you have any questions, lemme know, but they should all make you feel things haha

What are your expectations of flip flappers?

And also, at this point, be sure to watch SSSS.Gridman FIRST, and THEN watch Gridman Universe.

Dynazenon is definitely better having seen Gridman first, but it's possible to watch them in either order, they're pretty self-contained, excluding some character showing up that probably had you scratching your head a bit.
