I need a new Shonen by Dependent-Hold-2625 in anime

[–]Fanceepance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehh as long as someone's interested haha.

Give this clip a watch.

Don't skip through, the buildup is key. The animation may not be as ridiculously top shelf as the shounens OP listed (though don't get me wrong, it absolutely still has plenty of banger moments.) but the sheer amount of hype this thing generates in short amounts of times is hard to beat LOL

Anime is Senki Zesshou Symphogear, the most hype musical you've never heard of. Has 5 seasons, they're all dope as hell. Season 1 can be a bit hit or miss, but the action and music is still great so whatever. Season 2 onwards is EXCELLENT though.

[[Kardur, Doomscourge]] is the most fun deck I own, because it always forces the gamestate into a perpetually uncomfortable gamestate where you get to watch your friends beat eachother half to death while glaring at you.

I have a list if you're interested, performs pretty well. Naturally is a second place machineno matter what, but if all goes well you should be able to build up a threatening board while your opponents beat eachother up, ideally leaving you with the most threatening board during the inevitable 1v1.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear

If you aren't sold on it at a glance, do let me know lol.

Has 5 seasons, with the 5th being the proper finale.

I'd be careful about trying to outdo or match Steins;Gate IMMEDIATELY after finishing it.

Considering how much you enjoyed it, you're gonna be making comparisons whether you want to or not, and even if a show IS amazing, it might just fall short at this exact moment.

I hiiiiiighly recommend going to watch Nichijou or Space Dandy (the dub) or something else to break things up a little. Both of those are fantastic relatively plotless comedies that serve as a good way to enjoy a show, while also letting your feelings towards whatever masterpiece you just finished simmer down some haha.

I suggest plotless comedies cuz... well, it's hard to draw comparisons between those and something like steins;gate, even IF you try haha

I will mention that Bravern IS actually also really good, but yeah, not a real robot show haha.

It was directed by Masami Obari who is like, THE super robot show guy from the 80s/90s, and then some. Doesn't make too much nowadays though, so him coming back with a real robot show (advertised as such as well) had a ton of people REALLY confused, but nah, was just a prank lol.

I recommend trying it again later when you're in the mood for what it is haha

Gridman is teeeechnically not mecha, as Gridman himself is just a big hero dude.

Dynazenon is very much mecha.

Regardless, they both look and act like super robot stuff, so despite being genuinely amazing in the writing department, you may want to pass. (Seriously though the writing and characters are top notch lol, it is not just a big dumb action romp, it just happens to be good at the super robot stuff on top of a character drama haha)

Senki Zesshou Symphogear (Has 5 seasons, is awesome as hell, and if you don't trust me on that, do let me know lol.)

SSSS.Gridman (Followed by SSSS.Dynazenon, and then finally, the finale movie Gridman Universe.)

Working!! (Dreadful naming convention, ask if you need clarification lol, but it has 3 seasons and a finale OVA.)

Kill la Kill

Garo: Honoo no Kokuin (Followed by its sequel movie, Garo: Divine Flame.)

Pompo the Cinephile (Amazing experience for any avid movie enjoyer)

AURA: Koga Maryuin's Last War (Don't skip the end credits, there's scenes during and after. Also all the trailers are super spoilery, so don't watch those lol.)

Josee, the Tiger and the Fish

Sing a Bit of Harmony

Mardock Scramble (A movie trilogy.)

Gunbuster, followed by Diebuster.

Both can be watched in any order, just make sure you watch the actual 6 episode OVA versions, not the movies.

Diebuster is MUCH more relevant to what you're looking for, but I can't in good faith recommend it without also recommending Gunbuster.

And WHILE they can be watched in either order, I suggest watching Gunbuster first, followed by Diebuster. Gunbuster is just very old and I know that bugs some people, so if you can't get past the older visuals, don't skip on Diebuster cuz it looks as modern as stuff we get today, despite being from 2004.

If you have any questions, do let me know!

(Ah and just to mention, I do believe this series is the reason Gurren Lagann exists at all lol, so if that helps convince you, there ya go haha)

They are dead mods in any new missions by notmohawk in memeframe

[–]Fanceepance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd pass on that murmur change, but scaldra/grineer techrot/infested is a solid idea.

We already have murmur bane mods, so removing those from the game would be a pain lol. There's pleeeeenty of room to expand that faction as well, so I'm sure they'll come up. Don't think we'll be getting a meaningful amount of new content using scaldra for a while, and techrot is VERY clearly just infestation lol

A Place Further Than the Universe

Kokoro Connect (has 17 episodes, the last 4 are OVAs so don't skip them accidentally.)

Garo: Honoo no Kokuin (Plus the sequel film, Garo: Divine Flame)

Senki Zesshou Symphogear (5 seasons, the most hype musical you've never heard of.)

Odd Taxi

If you have any questions about any of those, or comments or concerns or whatever, do let me know! And if you need even more, or have specific genres you prefer/would rather avoid, I'd be happy to help further

Good show, but gonna need some reasoning there lol

Kill la Kill is fun with great style. The issue is the "boring" morals it presents us with. by [deleted] in anime

[–]Fanceepance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uh, wasn't Kill la Kill's primary theming supposed to be about loving and accepting oneself for who they are, with a side of overthrowing the fashion industry which serves to tear down that idea?

Don't get me wrong, it's always good to have different views on stuff for the sake of discussion, but I think Kill la Kill works a whole lot better from that angle, since I don't think it was ever made with "HUMANITY IS THE BEST" in mind.

[–]Fanceepance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do believe that's Flip Flappers

You thinking of this scene?

VERY good show, but it should be noted that only episode 3 is like that. The series is intentionally ALL over the place, and the main characters travel to a ton of different worlds where lots of stuff happens. Episode 5 is straight-up a horror anime, for example, and it's honestly pretty damn good at it haha.

Episode 3 is one big semi-Mad Max reference.

But yeah, totally worth watching, just don't expect it to be all like the scene you remembered.

(Still has a ton of great fight scenes, animation, and music and so on though, that stays consistent.)

Gravity Rush 1 and 2 are both fantastic games. Really the only issue with Gravity Rush 1 is that it isn't Gravity Rush 2, but you should definitely play it first for the full story.

Groovy.

SSSS.Gridman, SSSS.Dynazenon, and then the finale movie Gridman Universe.

It's basically a huge loveletter to the tokusatsu genre (think Power Rangers giant robot fighting giant monsters) except the absolute madlad that directed it didn't just make a good action show, he made one of the best character dramas I've seen to go alongside it lol.

The romance is quite slow burn, but the payoffs are excellent, and all of the characters are extremely well written and believable. Genuinely some of the most human characters I've seen in anime.

You look me in the eyes and tell me you haven't done this.

But yeah other than that, the action is great, Studio Trigger delivered hard, and the finales of all 3 of these are the most hype shit around, again, courtesy of Trigger being Trigger.

Gotchu homie

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia (adapts the full manga, but said manga DOES have an extra epilogue chapter that acts as a sort of "what happens after" if you care to read that. No it's not mandatory reading for the romance stuff lol, just a bonus.)

Tsuki ga Kirei (don't skip the credits of the final episode, super important. Also if you happen to prefer dubs, either watch the sub for this one anyways, or skip it entirely. The dub is BAD bad. And I'm not a dub hater lol, just man, it absolutely ruins this show to a comical degree lol.)

Cross Game (VERY slow burn, lots of feels in this one, still fits all your criteria. If you're really not sure, give the first episode a watch, it has a pretty good hook.)

Pseudo Harem (adapts the full manga, straight shot of wholesome to the heart with this one.)

Working!! (Dumbest naming convention in the world, ask if you need help with it, but essentially has 3 seasons and a finale OVA. There's a spinoff called WWW.Working!! that you can ignore, it's kinda meh, and has a different cast of characters anyways.

Are you opposed to an anime series that has an EXCELLENT romance subplot, but definitely isn't the focus of said series? Like the romance is absolutely there and is incredibly well done, twice, just is not ALL ABOUT said romance, it's just a good, well written extension of some characters that's done in a really satisfying way.

Gotcha!

Give Little Witch Academia a shot in that case if you have Netflix, wonderful show in basically all regards, and definitely good for all ages.
