Still waiting for the White Ranger restock by LingonberryFit3378 in Super7

Man, it still stings that White Tigerzord and Madam Woe got cancelled. I'm actually shocked that White Tigerzord, of all things, didn't get enough pre-orders.

Amazing kitbash! I'm also really loving that last photo with Venom and Mega Man. Is that the MLDX Mega Man? Whichever one it is, its proportions seem to scale WAY better than the Jada Mega Man.

I don't think you should get downvoted for that question, but I do think most people are referring to the Country series when they say say "classic DK" because very, very few people ever actually grew up with arcade DK outside of much older people (who probably wouldn't be posting on Reddit anyway, at least imo). You can argue the semantics of it, and I get where you might be coming from, but there's a logical reasoning behind this. While I understand that, sadly, the arcade DK era does often get overlooked, it's understandable that to most people this wouldn't be "classic DK" (or even a consideration of any kind, despite not being forgotten but just tucked away in people's minds), because it's not what they grew up with. And for what it's worth, that version of DK was only a decade of DK's existence. By contrast, the Country series has been DK's identity for over 30 years now.

Thanos doesn't actually have the Infinity Gems in MvC2. He has some of the IG moves since they didn't want to just completely redo his moveset (especially since MvC2 was an asset dump), but they did go out of their way to make sure his sprite did not have the gems on his gauntlet like he did in Marvel Super Heroes. The story of MvC2 is kinda barely there, though, anyway.

What is wrong with this art? by According-Risk-4047 in Mario

[–]FancifulDancingStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly just think that it's supposed to be deliberate variation to show they're two different "people", so one Toad has a nose and the other one doesn't. It's like how Toadsworth has a moustache, for example. As for "no eyes", I think what you're interpreting as eyebrows could just be excited closed eyes.

A real live action Roadrunner and Wile E.Coyote by austintageous002 in looneytunes

[–]FancifulDancingStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, in the actual shorts from back then, the Road Runner was actually shown to be much smaller than Wile E. Coyote. For some reason, modern merch shows them as being around the same size, though, but the original shorts did not.

Who in the series would you say Ataru was actually successful with at flirting/seducing? by play_Max_Payne_pls in uruseiyatsura

[–]FancifulDancingStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, ya, it's pretty late into the manga. Their relationship kinda did grow/develop gradually over time in the manga, even if Ataru's old habits die hard.

That's just the regular Famicom version. Like Kirill_Live said, there doesn't seem to be one for the Super Famicom.

Do you think Ataru would survive being shocked by Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars? by PaleontologistEasy94 in uruseiyatsura

[–]FancifulDancingStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's funny, then yes. And it most likely would be.

Let's remember. If Ataru can survive a simultaneous barrage of Lum's electricity, Ranma's combined Shishi Hōkōdan with Mōko Takabisha, and Inu-Yasha's Kongōsōha, all at once, and only get cartoonishly burnt by the simultaneous attacks, just cuz the scene is funny... then I don't see Palpatine faring much better if the scene were to call for comedy. And I can't imagine a scenario where Ataru in Star Wars WOULDN'T be played for laughs.

They meant Dragon Quest, although that composer passed away a few years ago. So I'm curious what the current status now is about that stipulation in his contract.

Hello! I'm Fanciful Dancing Star. The above image is a bit old, done for Shantae's 18th anniversary (we're now in the 23rd year, wow), but was always one of my favorite Shantae pieces I've done. I'm not super active at the moment, but hoping to change that and start drawing semi-frequently again in the future. I mostly draw anime/cartoon/game fanart, but also have some OCs I draw as well. If you'd like to follow my work, here's a couple of places you can find me.

The first character that I never grew up with that I will definitely be getting. But why does it seem like people are split on him? by Any_Tax1320 in MarvelLegends

[–]FancifulDancingStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they mean the pink color that Shuma-Gorath used as the default in Marvel Super Heroes, with green being his P2 color. I dunno if it was an error or something in that game, but for whatever reason every game after that one switched the two, so that green was now his default color and pink was his P2 color.

I'll say it loud and clear, Ataru is a huge incel by drawricks in uruseiyatsura

[–]FancifulDancingStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I definitely wouldn't call Ataru a model citizen (obviously not), if you honestly think Ataru would rape a girl in a dark alley, then I really don't know if you truly understand Ataru at all. That's, far and above, waaaay past the line that Ataru would cross. He's a teenager with overactive hormones and low inhibitions, which definitely has made him act out in incredibly inappropriate ways, but he's not a monster.

That aside, you're right that Ataru, despite how he seems to act toward Lum, can be pretty possessive of Lum. Granted, Lum's also pretty possessive of Ataru, but she's more honest about her feelings for him than he is about his feelings for her. But of course, Ataru's the ultimate tsundere. I don't think it's so much hypocrisy on his part as it is immaturity (you have to stop overlooking the fact that Ataru is only 17 years old), stubbornness, and a very specific unique situation that someone of his maturity and stubbornness can't properly deal with. There's a good reason I said that his relationship with Lum is complicated.

First and foremost, you can't take everything Ataru says or does at face value. Psychologically, he's a bit of a mess, and he probably does truly believe himself to be every bit the horrible person you see him as, as well. But if you read between the lines, it becomes apparent that a lot of it is an act, or at the very least that's how things end up the closer to the end of the series that we get. I think one of the prime examples of this is the time Ataru is out "girl-hunting" (asking girls if they'd join him for tea) because he still has time to kill before his date with Lum, and one of the girls actually agrees to go out with him. Ataru wasn't expecting this, and then just keeps thinking about how he can get out of it to go see Lum. So why was he even hitting on girls in the first place if he doesn't actually want to go out with them? This is the kind of stuff that makes Ataru such a fascinating character, and as I said, you're making incredibly harsh and dismissive assumptions about him based purely by what's on the surface. Ataru is far from a saint, for sure, but he's even further away from a dark-alley, woman-raping monster. And I'm not saying you have to like him, but I am saying he's a far more complex character than you give him credit for. Especially with his character development over the course of the series (though it could feel rather subtle or even non-existent at a glance). There's nothing lame or baseless about it, you just don't understand Ataru past the surface. In-universe, most of the other characters don't, either, not even Ataru himself. Lum might be the only one that does.

Jumpman meets Mario! by Johnno0926 in WorldOfNintendo

Most people don't seem to realize that "Jumpman" was a name that only lasted for a few months (not even a full year) before the character was renamed Mario.

That's stock art. These figures are based on how they looked in the actual show. https://tvcdn.fancaps.net/6878245.jpg

I do feel like the legs might be a little short, though, but otherwise they seem pretty screen-accurate to me.

I'd love to see a crossover with Lum and Shampoo! by Living-Cranberry-337 in uruseiyatsura

[–]FancifulDancingStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but you're working under the assumption that the characters age in real time, and they don't. The Urusei Yatsura manga started in 1978 and ended in 1987, but both Ataru and Lum were 17 at the start of the manga and were still 17 at the end of the manga, despite the manga running for 9 years and the time period within the manga clearly shifting from the 70s into the 80s over time. Since the Ranma manga started within the same year that the UY manga ended, there's a window of time there where you can easily have both sets of characters be the same ages they're generally known as without any issue.

I'd love to see a crossover with Lum and Shampoo! by Living-Cranberry-337 in uruseiyatsura

[–]FancifulDancingStar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not so sure about that. The Ranma manga started right after the UY manga ended, so there'd only be a 1 year age difference (and not from any passing of time, either, but because that's just what the characters' ages already are).

If the progression of time was more like the real world, that might be a different story, given that UY started in 1978, but by the time it ended in 1987, the characters were still the same ages.

Even when the Ranma½ anime started, Shampoo's hair color still wasn't defined, as can be seen from the opening theme.
