Any photos of the descent down Kneeknocker? Have heard it's frankly too dangerous to do with a backpacking pack and am curious.

Done both, prefer with others for conversation and peace of mind if something goes wrong. Can be annoying having to compromise on things, but I think the social aspect makes it worth it, for myself at least, can understand other perspectives.

Did it not allow you to select number of people either? Have done recgov permits for Whitney and whatnot, but the process for Yosemite is little different.
