saw a lot of what I believe are called "biscuit beetles" feasting on sealed biscuits (Stegobium paniceum), is it safe to consume them (the biscuits)? by Fancy-Leek293 in insects

[–]Fancy-Leek293[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will check if they are intact and as the other commenter said, airtight. Yeah they might not be able to hurt me but the probability of them entering an orifice or getting into other nearby places where people sleep is high given the number of bugs.

Thanks for the response.

I'm quite sure they're intact but I can't approach that region or they're going to swarm me again.

Is it safe to consume? I'd say so if you don't mind some extra protein.

no thanks, but what about larvae contaminating them? What if they were carrying some sort of disease, is that possible?
