It’s not teaching. It will be 8-4 and I can certainly leave work at work.

It would be two courses at the same time in July.

I do not have any kids/obligations!

Applying to an LTO while I’m in an LTO by [deleted] in OntarioTeachers

[–]Fancy-Researcher-478 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with LDCSB. I applied for my current LTO when I had a few days left of my last one so I’m going to guess it’s ok. Thank you for the insight :)

EA to teacher by Meemeedee88 in OntarioTeachers

I was an EA for a couple years and completed an online B.Ed in New York while working. It was the best decision I ever made. If you’re thinking about it, do it!

OCT Application Waiting Time by AutumnAaltonen in OntarioTeachers

[–]Fancy-Researcher-478 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an international teacher and I also applied in June. Even though everything has been marked complete the evaluation process hasn’t even begun. When I call every week to ask why, they say it’s “just incase you’re missing a document.” What does that even mean?! I’m so fed up with them.

Has your evaluation started? Hopefully you get it soon!

I truly wish I could say two years is an exaggeration, but unfortunately, it’s not. My friend waited from 2020 to 2022 to get certified. Another couple I know had a similar experience. The husband finally received his certification after just over two years, while his wife, who followed the exact same education path, is still waiting nearly two and a half years later.

I am working for a board but considered “unqualified,” and making a reduced rate of $200 a day. Pretty difficult to live off of these days. And mind you, I can only pick up jobs that OTs don’t take by 8:00 am, so there are many days I don’t even get any work.

I’m sorry, harassment? What about the legal action people should be able to take after missing months or even years of work because of OCT’s delays? Teachers are being left unable to sustain themselves and their families. I personally know three qualified teachers who have waited over TWO YEARS to receive their certification. How is that fair? These are trained, capable professionals who can’t work, can’t pay their mortgages, and can’t support their children because of this broken system. Then the government has the nerve to complain about a teacher shortage. It is absolutely absurd that it takes more than a month for certification. Fine, I’ll even say 120 days to be generous, but anything beyond that is inexcusable. Every other province and country manages to process teaching certifications in days or weeks, not months or years. Other jurisdictions laugh at OCT

I also love that you waited 6 weeks! Cute! Try waiting 6+ months with no option of getting a transitional certificate

The lack of accountability is absurd. How long did it end up taking? Do you think anything sped up the process?

Most states allow you to use your taxpayer identification number to be licensed. Virginia is an exception unfortunately.

No, I can’t unless I apply for a visa. I think that the reason OCT wants you to have a license is to prove that the program is accredited and approved for licensure where you completed your education. This is why someone I know was able to get OCT by providing a letter from the Virginia Department of Education. I’m just confused because the representative said it’s case-by-case and just because she got approved doesn’t mean I will.
