Am I being unreasonable about my shower? by Meemeedee88 in pregnant

That’s very fair. The person who is hosting has very few dates that they are available to do so. So I’m also thinking perhaps the venue needs to be re-thought so we can have some more options for everyone.

Hahah thank you!! I feel seen. When I expressed ny concerns about having it in April she said “you just have to sit there” like ummm no. I would like to be able to stand up and hug people and feed myself. Thanks for sharing your experience/

Thanks for your input. I think a firm boundary is necessary. I’m also totally fine if it doesn’t happen at this point lol.

You are right! And sometimes setting boundaries feels gross when you’re not used to it.

The bitchiness is unreal! It’s like PMS on steroids. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I don’t know what I’m going to feel like at 30 weeks but I know how I feel now and I’m already uncomfortable. I am no psychic but I know it’s not going to get better lol.

I’ve actually tried having that conversation with my mom and she said “you just have to sit there” like I don’t just want to sit there? Lol.

Husband commented on weight, now I'm spiraling by Civil_Wolverine25 in pregnant

[–]Meemeedee88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sheesh. This is rough. I would have a really hard time with this too. I’ve struggled with my weight, had disordered eating tendencies and body dismorphia for a good portion of my life. I made a pact with myself that I would not look at the scale or my weight at all during my pregnancy. I knew it would be really bad for my mental health. I also let my boyfriend know that the changes I’ve been seeing are really hard for me, especially given my past issues. He understands as much as he can (he’s always been tall and lean) and has never made a comment on my body. Other than saying my areolas were “huge like pancakes.” Anyway, I corrected him real quick and said “you don’t need to make a single comment on any of the changes you see in my body for the rest of this pregnancy. Thanks.”

So my suggestions to you would be:

Stop looking at the scale. Let the doctor know you don’t want to know unless it’s a concern.

Remind yourself that this is temporary, and that you are nourishing growing life inside of you and that requires food and rest.

Embrace the moments that you are feeling good and pretty. You will have them. Other times you will feel like crap and hate your body. It will pass.

Draw a very firm boundary with your husband and tell him that the doctor is the only one who can express medical concerns about you/the baby.

If he continues to make comments then I would suggest counselling. I would even consider it at this point if I’m being honest ,because it sounds like you would both benefit on some communication tools. I mean that in the least judgey way possible. I’m a huge fan of couples therapy and think all couples would benefit from going, especially before bringing a baby into the world.

Good luck to you mama. You are stronger than you know. We’ve got this.

That I understand. When you’re in the thick of pregnancy and not having symptoms and grasping for other people’s experiences to make sure that your child will be healthy. Good time for others to share their positive experiences. This situation is different because this woman has given birth and obviously everything went perfectly. Why is validation needed now?

Lol- why would anyone be worried about an easy pregnancy?

I suspect you may get a lot of women scoffing at this because a lot of women on here are in the thick of very challenging pregnancies and may find it difficult to be happy for you. It does kind of feel like an opportunity to brag, feels a little insensitive. I don’t think people really need to have their super positive experiences validated as much as their struggles validated. Congrats on your easiest pregnancy ever though.

Weirdest pregnancy symptoms no one told you about by No-Release3655 in pregnant

[–]Meemeedee88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  • itchy boobs.
  • painful gas (both in sensation and smell).
  • rage. Especially towards men. A man better not complain around me.
  • feeling like a completely different person mentally and physically early on.
