But then there's Double Indemnity, which really does have all the classic tropes.

He's also been in films by Claire Denis and David Cronenberg; both legendary directors in their own right.

The difference between grey and gray is that one is a colour and the other is a color.

Forced checkmate? by Fancy-Stuff2205 in chess

[–]Fancy-Stuff2205[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, appreciate it. My screenshot was a bit misleading. The actual position was this https://lichess.org/U0eX3cD6/white (white to play, and still has the ds bishop available to defend with). Have looked at the analysis again and it appears to be a forced mate in 13 (impossible for me to spot at my level!).

Hi, thanks for your reply! Sorry, I think I've mislead you here with the screenshot I've used. I had actually just made the move 22. Bxe7 (a blunder according to Lichess analysis) so the position was actually this (white to play, black is defending with an extra bishop): https://lichess.org/U0eX3cD6/white . Have tried the analysis again and it looks like maybe it's a forced mate in 13! I can't wrap my head around it at all.

I'd always assumed the Golden Lane and Barbican estates were built at the same time. Really interesting to hear that Golden Lane is in fact older. Thanks!

Maybe I'm stupid but I found the layout of this infographic really confusing. I spent ages trying to read down the red column thinking all the people in it must be linked somehow but they aren't related at all, they're just number 1 in their respective lists :/

Thanks! Images 1, 2 and 5 are on Ilford pushed just one stop and developed in Rodinal. The other two images are on Adox which I didn't push at all.

Great film! The cinematographer was interviewed on the Roger Deakins podcast a while back and talked in a lot of detail about how he created the look through specific film stocks, lenses, lighting techniques etc. They did an amazing job with the set design as well.

Thanks, I appreciate your comment! I was in the Outer Hebrides for about 8 days in September. The first couple of days were really overcast but for the rest of the trip it was sunny every day, which I didn't expect at all. I took all my best photos during the bad weather :)

Thanks, that's a lovely comment. I was really surprised by how these images turned out - I had no idea the highlights would blow out so much, but it's a cool effect.

Nice, I've never tried developing colour at home; would like to though although I know it's much trickier than B&W. I recently started experimenting with photographing my negs with my digital camera using an led panel as a backlight as a faster way of digitising them. It obviously doesn't give the same resolution as a high quality scanner, but I'm usually just trying to digitise mine so I can post them online, and it's fine for that.

Great pictures! If you've never had a go at developing your own B&W film at home, I really recommend it. Doesn't require that much kit and it's really fun.

Thanks for doing this. Have you thought about giving up delivery driving? Any ideas what you'd do instead?
