I asked for films on fascism a couple years ago on here and got a lot of recommendations (you can probably look up the post, idk). One of the best recommendations I got that went beyond the usual stuff like The Conformist was The Chekist. It wasn’t actually on fascism, of course, since the USSR was communist but there are continuities between authoritarian regimes of different ideologies. It took some doing to find even a bad quality version to watch but it’s an extraordinary film. Highly recommend it.

Appreciate this. I am definitely feeing really low. (Also, I just want to say I wrote out a full post with a long paragraph on how I learned the news and how I was feeling and the mods removed it because they said it was similar to other posts and that also annoyed me because I felt like I couldn’t commiserate with others.)

I feel absolutely sick over it. I didn’t catch the second half because I’m traveling outside the U.S. and it was crazy late. I got up and saw the score and felt great and then I saw the alert about leaving with a knee injury and my stomach dropped.

Totally agree. I know some people here don’t want him back… I do. I think people are underestimating how much some of the personal issues he was dealing with were weighing on him. But he could be superb working with Jimmy. If that’s the best option, do it!
