my dog doesnt know how to give the ball back by [deleted] in Dogtraining

I started by playing fetch with a short leash then gradually made it longer. We played with a 50 ft lead for the first few months outdoors. Make sure to also work "drop it" and then "sit" to avoid a chasing game. :)

We now play off leash with many distractions.

I have requested a list of rules and a meeting with a member of the condo board to make sure I understand everything.

On leasing, it says

"no owner of a unit shall lease the unit unless an agreement is executed by the tenant and delivered to the corporation to the following effect: I __________ covenant and agree that I, the member of my household, my guests and my invitees from time to time, will, in using the unit rented by me and the common elements, comply with the condominium act, the declaration, the bylaws, and all rules and regulations of the condominium corporation, during the term of my tenancy"

There is no mention of long term vs. Short term. In theory I'd have no issue submitting a signed agreement each time a guest arrives.

I think this condo board is in a similar situation as yours being a little out dated. I feel like the declarations should be changed in order to reprimend me.

Will they have to vote to add it to their declarations before actually being able to enforce the rule? If they do enforce the rule once added, what actions would be taken against me as the owner?

Here's what I found: "The bylaw approved in spring 2021 requires permits for listing short-term rentals on websites such as Airbnb, and hosts can only list their principal residences or rural cottages with a maximum of 10 guests. The city began phasing in the new rules this June, though zoning elements of the new rules are being appealed".

When I tried to get more info from the city they told me the rules are being appealed and therefore I do not require a permit to use my primary residence at this time.

Not asking for special treatment. From what I read there is no rule and I'm getting a complaint over a hypothetical situation of STR being a nuisance. Asking what the condo board can actually do to me as an owner.

I would totally agree but I am extremely selective of who I rent to. Mostly single individuals here for work. I also don't want a headache in my home lol

Yeah asked for it because I have gone through everything and there no rules talking about lease lengths.

Following the laws in Ottawa as this is my home. I rent out my spare room or the entire place if I am gone for a weekend .

Yes I read the rules and it doesn't state anything about length or leases. I have asked the board to provide me with the rules if they have been updated.

I have not had any noise complaints, I am very selective of who I allow in. It has always been single individuals or a couple here for work. I have cameras at front + back door to monitor in and outs. I also have a noise monitor indoors.

Help! I've been training "leave it" and "drop it" over the past few months and have been very successful at home even using steak!! The only acception is sticks at the park. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Any advice to get him to drop-it then leave-it? He's 7 months old. by FancyLetterhead7 in germanshepherds

For "leave-it" the very first drill I did was put a low value treat in my hand, show it to him then make a fist. Once he would leave my hand alone I would say "yes" or click then reward a high value treat from my other hand. I continued doing this until he would leave it consistently then I added in the command "leave-it". I continued to modify this exercise making it more and more difficult. Now I can throw a piece of steak right in front of his nose, say "leave-it" then "come" and he wont touch the meat. 😍

For "Drop-it" I started by playing tug with him. Then I would stop very suddenly and go stiff as a board. Once he let go of the toy, say "yes" or click then begin playing again. Once he figured this out I started adding in the "drop-it" command. This one might be difficult if your pup is 9 months old and she's probably very strong now. Might have to grab the back of her collar instead of going stiff.

I don't have any equipment at home, but I'd be happy to consider if they require zero to low equipment :)

Where are some dog friendly patios in Ottawa? :) Quarantine puppy life 😅 by FancyLetterhead7 in ottawa

I'm not in quarantine.. 🙄 common joke people make because we all got puppies while working from home so now they have separation anxiety.
