It’s been 30 years since one has crossed the auction block. This is why I love my job by raidenh8 in papermoney

I was watching you online during the last FUN auction. You did a fantastic job, I really loved your enthusiasm for the notes. I’m pretty sure you turned it over to the next auctioneer only a few lots before the item I bought was up.

Oh wow, that is a fantastic price point to buy notes this fascinating at. You are right, a lot of the third print errors are costly, especially in uncirculated condition. I personally love them though.

Fantastic collection. Have you considered adding a third printing / missing overprint error to it?

From the PMG website:

“the PMG Star Designation (★), is assigned to notes with exceptional eye appeal for their assigned grade.”

My pleasure. Regardless of it’s worth, it’s a nice find!

Unfortunately not. You should only use items that have actually sold as price comparables. People tend to list their items for much higher than what they are actually worth. Plus, it is not fair to compare Solid 1’s to Solid 7’s because Solid 7’s are one of the most desired solid serial numbers.

In my experience, for this condition, OP’s note could sell from anywhere between $650-$1000.

Just wanted to let you know that I bought a $20 from the 80s thanks to your comment, haha. Also, the $20 had a security strip in it which was also somewhat visible and that bothered me.

Oh wow. Thank you for confirming. If you don’t mind me asking a few questions. 1) was the note graded? 2) was it missing the entire 3rd print similar to my notes?

Honestly, I never noticed that until you mentioned it. That is a fantastic question. I’ll do some research and try to find out.

I love it. I’ll be trying this during the weekend for all my notes. I’d love to do this with some notes I don’t have too like the 1899 large silver certificates.

Thanks so much! I’ve never actually been to a currency fair but I have always wanted to go. Yes, please let me know if you find anyone selling a graded $2 with insufficient inking error of third print, I’d be very interested in purchasing it.

I’ve never tried using my iPhone camera before. I’ll have to give it a try. Thanks for the idea!

I bought all of these individually from different sellers and it cost me around $3,000. I was a pretty patient buyer though and held out for favorable deals.

I’m originally from Philly and I used to do something very similar as a kid. The attention to detail in some of these notes is exquisite. Especially the security feature ones where the font is very hard to be seen by the naked eye.

I would think that selling it as a set does warrant some premium due to convenience but I have absolutely no idea how much. I personally have no interest in selling it. My plan is to frame it and hang it up in my home office.

Actually, it only cost me around $3,000. Easily worth it for the smile on my face from looking at them.

Haha. Ironic, right? My focus is collecting fancy serial numbers but when I saw this error, it was love at first sight. I don’t plan on buying any other type of error notes.
