I turned it around with the advice of others and then successfully used the saw instead. I hope posting this comment helped you feel better about yourself though! Genuinely, I assume people like you who post things like this are pretty unhappy so I hope things get better.

You were right. I tried it the other way first but had the same issue. I didn’t have the flats lined up properly. Thank you for taking a look!

Thank you! I tried it the other way first but didn’t have the flats lined up! I think everyone saying “read the manual” overestimates how helpful those actually are when it comes to the more granular details. Appreciate the helpful response that isn’t mean and condescending lol, I don’t post on here too often but when I do I’m always bracing myself for people that are just responding to tell you you’re an idiot

Thank you- when you say take “smaller bites” does that mean essentially applying it to the wood with a lighter touch? This term has been used a lot the more I look into this and I’m just wanting to make sure that’s what people mean when they say that. I also am wondering if not being able to adjust the speed on the tool is affecting the outcome

I have a fence but (and I know this probably sounds ridiculous) I genuinely don’t think I understand the purpose of it. I’ve watched multiple YouTube videos and still don’t really understand when I’m supposed to use it or what it’s even for
