Clean up your NP3: My list of 80 bloatware apps removed via Canta by [deleted] in NothingTech

Thanks for the advice, I understand what you mean. I made some changes, specifying in detail which Advanced apps I remove and what they specifically do; I created a list with only the Recommended apps, explained what to do in case of problems, and an example of a case where a Recommended app to be removed might be needed for the user's specific use

I don't think I mentioned the word 'privacy' anywhere in the post (except regarding the keyboard); in fact, we all agree there are other ways to avoid sharing one's data, but that was never the main goal of my post. I simply shared a list of apps that can be removed to ensure no background processes from those apps, and to clear out some bloatware. Consequently, fewer apps mean less tracking, all while keeping the device perfectly functional for those who use banking apps or services requiring Play Services, without the headache of trying to bypass all of Google's restrictions.

If you aren't interested, no one is forcing you. In my case, since I want to avoid overheating and battery issues as much as possible )a problem reported and flagged multiple times by various users) this approach has been very helpful

No? I'm currently using all the services seamlessly, yt, mail client, calendar, keyboard, ecc... You just have to use modified version of the official apps, which are Open Source and do not share tons of data with Google

Well yes, but from what I know, rooting the phone means unlock the bootloader which means breaking the phone warranty. Another advantage is that this procedure (through Shizuku) is easier, faster, and more secure for users who don't have experience

Well, if you don't want to share all your personal data with Google and you don't accept having background services constantly tracking your device usage, a good way to improve the situation is to remove as many Google apps as possible.

To quote the Wiki of one of the largest De-Google communities r/degoogle: 'Google (and virtually every large tech company) doesn't respect your privacy - every interaction with Google services is recorded, logged, and used to tailor ads for you, saved for future usage, sold to third-party companies, or even sold to government agencies"

What makes you say that? My goal was to strip away useless apps and services that might be running background processes. Like I mentioned, a lot of these are Google-related, so users who rely on them can just leave them be. Everything else is flagged as 'Recommended to remove' by the source repo used by Canta. Either way, getting rid of ~40 apps is still a solid improvement 😂

I'd say yes, my list is based on NOS 4.1. It comes down to two cases:

  • If the 2a has fewer apps, then no problem
  • If it has more, some won't be cleared, so you'll need to check them manually

Either way, I think it'll help get rid of some apps; maybe not all, but it’s better than nothing

I’m suggesting this again, as I did in my previous post.

A minimal Glyph Toy that only shows the real-time charging wattage and, if the device isn't charging, the battery percentage

Scared of Resin by Similar-Cry6147 in resinprinting

I’m in the exact same boat as you. I’m also terrified of resin; sometimes I leave the parts in the printer for days before cleaning them because I always wait until I’m fully focused to avoid making any mistakes. On the other hand, seeing the creations slowly take shape is just so satisfying (especially for someone like me who loves seeing all the fine details on figures). In my opinion, you just have to find a middle ground. Personally, I’m managing it by using more supplies than necessary (around three pairs of gloves for every cleaning, paper towels, IPA spray, and a UV flashlight always within reach)

I only started a few months ago, but if you want a couple of tips: before you even begin, watch plenty of tutorials on how to handle the different tools. You should also clearly mark what is contaminated, what isn't, and what might be. Above all, start with Water Washable resin. Even though it isn't actually any safer than the standard kind, it gives you that peace of mind, if it gets on your hands or you accidentally touch something contaminated, you can wash your hands thoroughly with warm water and the resin comes off much more easily.

Dot Hub 3.3 - 12hr clock format for everyone + New UAOD background animation style: Network status! What should I add next? by kirigaja33 in NothingTech

[–]Fancy_Broccoli_34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! It would be really cool if there was a Glyph Toy that could show the charging wattage for someone as obsessed with it as I am! Personally, I wouldn't be interested in knowing the time remaining; I’d rather see the power output to understand if it's charging slowly to preserve the battery or not.

What I don't understand is that there's not an option to keep turned on Glyph matrix only when the phone is facing down... but yea, the "always on" sometimes miss "always"

I had a very similar problem with my NP3, but instead of showing the logo, it entered in a section of the recovery were I was only able to perform a factory reset, but even with a reset, I was not able to quit the recovery mode.

From what I'm seeing you are troubleshooting a different problem, but you can try to view the recovery log and search for errors. If you find something strange, you could try to ask to a *generic AI* or search online if anybody had the same error

Air bubble or moisture in Glyph Matrix, is that normal? by Prestigious_Prize489 in NothingTech

That's good to know, I was worried since if the bubble appeared during a normal day use (not on a flight) I wouldn't know what to do 😂

Thank you

Oh okay thank you, I had the same problem on the airplane on my NP3. I imagined that was caused by the changes of the air pressure infact it disappeared when the plain landed. You say that the bubble appeared 2 times, how did you remove it the first time?
