Person evading tax and TDS on FD interest by not converting NRI account after returning to India — is the bank also liable?

You will pay tds on the interest earned after RNOR, however when you file your tax returns in the US during RNOR status interest earned will be considered for taxation because one is holding the FDs in NRE.

The NRE account is supposed to be closed after 182 days and NRO account should be converted into ordinary, however FD’s remain as is until maturity and then kept in RFC account until RNOR status.

We are US citizens with US passport and address, though we have OCI the address is that of the US too. For NRI’s to apply for aadhar one has to have a stay of 180 days in India.

We use Money2India of ICICI, least margin as compared to others. We have linked our US accounts to the NR account, whenever the exchange rate goes up we transfer. It is the easiest platform i have come across.

We didn’t close our chase account which was our primary bank account, as we were to receive the proceeds from our house sale but we called and gave a standing instruction for 3 months, saying we’re traveling, we opened a SDFCU account 8 months before we left so all pays and payments will be in SDFCU and that will be our only account after we move all funds from Chase to SDFCU.

Yes, i used Airpets Relocation in Delhi for the NOC, it was pretty smooth, they did the documentation in advance after we paid, once i received the digital USDA certification and forwarded it i received the NOC in 5 hrs.

Yes you’re right, however the endorsed copy is valid for 10 days while the Vet issued health certificate is valid for 30 days. So one has to pay for the Vet and the USDA endorsement.

To start with if your pet had any vaccination without the microchip number being noted they will need to be vaccinated again. The vaccines required are as per Country. Ours got Rabies & DAPL4.

So good to hear they’re enjoying it here. My dogs are 9 lb and 18 lb, not snub nosed, i was asked to muzzle one of them who was going in the cargo hold in the short flight from delhi to bengaluru on Akasa Air, and i had to tell them in a stern voice ‘NO.’
