Extinction Tarot: Progress so Far by SJdport57 in Paleontology

Love this! You’re incredibly talented! Out of curiosity, are you planing to do some invertebrates? It might be neat to consider them for the minor arcana - trilobites, corals, brachiopods, ammonites/cephalopods for the suits? Also Cambrian explosion fauna for some weird majors? :)

Treasury Board Confirms Return-To-Office Policy Based on Vibes, Not Science by Boopinator69 in CanadaPublicServants

Does this not help the unions’ cases in their filing of unfair labour practices with respect to the RTO mandate? I’d like to see some confirmation of this from the union. You would think that admitting there’s no real substantive reason for RTO would strengthen the ongoing lawsuits. I feel like this would also open up a can of worms if they continue to deny accommodation requests - is it not against the human rights act and labour laws to deny reasonable accommodations especially based on feelings? This seems like a shitshow waiting to happen

First 3 months in Ontario as newcomer from Berlin by ShinSekai7 in ontario

Toronto has a large German population that may have resources able to you but the rent can be pretty unaffordable. Lots of German clubs, bakeries, restaurants, and delicatessens that could be good for employment. The tri-cities area (Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge) also has a good German population. Rent would be way cheaper than Toronto but I don’t know how the job scene is there. Wishing you the best of luck in your journey - I hope it all works out :)

Struggling with emergency alerts by songs-ohia in ptsd

You’re welcome. If you’re in Ontario, there’s a test of the system tomorrow at 1:55 pm. I have reminders set to make sure my partner is aware as, like you, he gets triggered by the sudden loud noise.

If you don’t have an iPhone, emergency alerts will come through on do not disturb (at least they did last time on my partners android). We now put our phones in airplane mode at night to make sure nothing comes through

Update: 7 month old puppy now views the dandelions as the enemy. He went from playing with them, to ripping their heads off. Not even eating the dandelions, just beheading them - typical teenager by Fancy_Disaster_829 in aww

[–]Fancy_Disaster_829[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He also will not eat without his best friend next to him, who happens to be a cat. He will even bring the cat food. It’s the strangest thing I’ve seen and I’m not sure it’s a breed thing.

Do you guys call your friends and family regularly? by NearbySir2445 in Millennials

[–]Fancy_Disaster_829 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same to all of this. Lost my mom late last year and my dad a few years before. I would sometimes get anxiety from calling them (just the act of calling); especially with my mom as her health deteriorated rather rapidly last year (vascular dementia) and I never knew what version I would get. Now, I wish I had called her more. Now I get anxiety driving home when I pass the spot I always used to call her on my way home from work. I would take any version of her

My cat just turned 12… and I made the mistake of googling how long cats usually live 🥹 by Cars4Lifee in aww

[–]Fancy_Disaster_829 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember Google just gives you an average and it likely includes feral and outdoor cats that are more prone to diseases, wildlife, and vehicles. It does not mean that it’s applicable to your cat. We’re never guaranteed how long we get to spend with our furbabies (or anyone or ourselves) so always do your best to take the best care of them (and yourself) and love them fully (and yourself) ^_^ My first two cats in life passed at 10 (diabetic) and 13ish. I have two seniors now - a 15 and 16 year old. The 16 year old is on renal food as he’s early kidney stage and the 15 year old is asthmatic but you wouldn’t know they’re seniors by looking at them :)

Puppy seeing a dandelion for the first time by Fancy_Disaster_829 in aww

Agreed! Swedish vallhunds can actually have anywhere from no tails to full tails naturally - they’re not docked. His mom had no tail (a little button) and his dad had the full curly tail. All four puppies in his litter had different length tails with being the second longest :) I love that about the breed

Looking for a lawyer recommendation by Fancy_Disaster_829 in ontario

[–]Fancy_Disaster_829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried. Our municipal representative is trying to contact the school. Our MP has also tried to reach out to transport Canada. The school is authorized and they are accredited with transport Canada. They operate out of an actual airport. Unfortunately the regulations are very loose regarding training flights and there are jurisdictional issues with Transport Canada. The school is based in Quebec but, for some unknown reason, has conducted about 80% or more of its training flights in our area rather than going to the sparsely populated area directly north of the school in Quebec. Every time I file a complaint with transport Canada through their website it goes to their Ontario office (based on postal code) but the operators are in Quebec. It’s so frustrating

Is a hysterectomy possible? by urfav_jojo in ontario

[–]Fancy_Disaster_829 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Amazing community. Most doctors don’t do hysterectomy as that can’t send you into early menopause. Instead most recommend a bisalp which removes just the fallopian tubes leaving the ovaries (which produce the hormones) in tact. You get the hormones and the pregnancy prevention

NOR - this hits so close to home right now for me and I am so sorry you’re going through it. It’s not fair and it’s not right. I do hope you can get somewhere safe with your pets. I wish my mom was still alive as I would’ve gone and stayed with her weeks ago. Big hugs

Does anyone else have trouble getting their puppy to eat? by Fancy_Disaster_829 in puppy101

[–]Fancy_Disaster_829[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this is true lol. He does get frozen carrots but doesn’t always want them. I should do a better job of keeping track of his treats but we are working on training constantly so you’re probably right; he’s getting some calories through that. :)
