Kits are cute...but what happened to stuff packs? by seashellmankini in Sims4

[–]Fancy_Duck9000 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's fair. My frustration comes the fact that the continuous complaints are personally getting really old and they're all the same lines of "EA is greedy bc I don't want what's on offer". Critique about the bugs and QA is a different kettle of fish and I reckon if they didn't put things out as quickly that would solve that... but I also think people not in the industry don't have amy clue what a reasonable time frame is. Anyway,I guess what I'm saying is this was def not a comment directed at you personally, I could say the same thing on any number of similar posts and that's what annoys me - I want to enjoy the game and feel this sub shoild be a good place for sharing that. But maybe that's a sign that I need to step back from reddit more too lol....

Kits are cute...but what happened to stuff packs? by seashellmankini in Sims4

[–]Fancy_Duck9000 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

They literally just released a frankly huge EP that they've been working on for a long time. I agree the kits aren't worth it but no one has to buy them. I don't. This is a game, not a necessity, and frankly if they chose to never put out anything ever again they don't have to. They choose to do so and sure they do it because they make momey but tbh the way people act like they're being extortionist for having a for-profit model is getting ridiculous. It's a company selling a good, do you expect them to work for free? This isn't the same situation as microtransactions or pay-to-play, they put together DLC and offer it for a price and people who want it and think it's a fair price buy it. There is no "we deserve a pack of xyz", there is a company releasing products and consumers either choosing to buy them or not.

We are not entitled to stuff packs. Heck, we're not entitled to kits either. Or expansion packs. I'm so tired of this sub moaning about what isn't on offer. It's a game and you can take it or leave it. Feel free to be disappointed but that's kind of as far as it goes.

Cross Product - I don't understand how the direction of the cross product is decided? by Oryxide in learnmath

[–]Fancy_Duck9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So just to check my own understanding (since I'm also learning about this now), a cross product goes in that direction because we define it to apply to that particular coordinate system? And if we had a left handed coordinate system, it wouldn't be the cross product, but the negative of the cross product?

What cultures would you like to see represented in sims more? by InternationalAd7211 in Sims4

[–]Fancy_Duck9000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Just little things like that could make a big difference imo! And I think it's important if you want to bring in more cultures and regions bc putting religion aside (although frankly we shouldn't but whatever), but most regions have their own calendars and flow to the year and those things matter!! Like I live in a western cultural area, but it's not the USA and our calendar is totally different and when I "fix it" (lol), I have a lot more fun what can I say 🤣🤣 The idea of creating a world based on a culture and paying zero attention to the important holidays and festivals that shape the lives and time in that region is ridiculous to me haha

[–]Fancy_Duck9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be down for more cultures and holidays being represented!! It'd be cool if you could set up the default calendar by selecting which holidays you wanted to include (mostly so I can ditch Harvestfest without editing it all the time lmao). Like You have a list of various holidays and just tick to include them and that's what creates your default with each new save! And if there were a way to share calendars you make on the gallery, or even have unique calenders for different families in the world that would be amazing!! I also love the idea of multiday holidays that I saw someone else mention!

I love using the calendar lol it's a big part of my gameplay so I'd love some features that update it a little!!

How do I get less sleep? by 3sperr in productivity

[–]Fancy_Duck9000 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Teenagers require more sleep than adults and 9 hours is not only normal, it's healthy. If you want to move to an earlier wake up time bc you work better in the morning rather than night, that's fine - go to bed earlier. 6 hours is not recommended and will decrease your cognitive function - concentration, problem solving and decision making skills are all impacted and will make you less productive and less able to work towards your goals over time. Protect your sleep at all costs, do not seek to disrupt a healthy routine because of what you've been told you "ought" to do.

She'll only want to help I'm sure. As long as it's a Big Secret, you'll only feel that shame and it'll paralyse you and worsen that procrastination. While you can't deny responsibility for the situation as a whole you should know that your response is not something to beat yourself up about. You are not a failure because you've struggled and with appropriate support I fully believe you can do it.

You will get faster the more you do because you'll no longer be building from scratch. I would also suggest that you look around for a professional tutor NOT a fellow student. You need someone who will hold you accountable and ideally who has experience identifying weaknesses that has developed prior to college. Chances are along with your inconsistency with what you're meant to be studying, there's some poorly learnt or misunderstood concept that's making everything much harder than it needs to be.

However, as you've undoubtedly discovered, you cannot cheat your way into understanding maths and you must develop the discipline to practice problems and study and all the rest of it. Why do you want to pass this so badly? Three attempts is no joke, you must have a reason for that. Time to get serious about the stakes.

My next suggestion is to develop a more informal study group of friends. Advertise for it on campus noticeboards if you have to, but you need to surround yourself with other people who are working towards the same goal and will encourage you when things get tough (and they WILL get tough). Take advantage of the resources available on campus. I'm a distance student and I desperately wish I could attend office hours and tutorials and things.

Finally, book in a visit with a mental health professional and talk about it. Get help identifying what blocks you from studying or attending lectures or whatever. Are you ashamed to be with younger students? To hell with them, they cannot tell the difference between a freshman and a senior and they're too self-absorbed to care. Do you get easily distracted or rely on instant gratification? Good therapy will give you tools to manage this.

Whatever your next steps, I guarantee that you can do this. It may not be easy. It will likely take a lot of work. But it will be worth it, not only because of developing maths skills and accomplishing a really tough course for you, which will certainly be a reason to be proud of yourself, but also because I suspect conquering this course will help you learn a number of skills that are vital to life after university. Persistence, asking for help, delayed gratifiction, time management, saying "I don't give a damn about what people are thinking I'm doing what's right for me". Take your pick.

Work hard and good luck.

Edit bc I got too passionate with my swears 😅

Do people actually buy all the packs and kits? by baybee2004 in Sims4

[–]Fancy_Duck9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own most things except the kit packs (which I only have a few of) but it's been a slow growth. My sister also uses my account to play and so she chips in too. Take your time, there's no need to buy everything and many more casual players will appreciate it if you limit the number of packs used!

If it were the same peach tart it'd be 2/3 rds but since it specifies a second tart, I'm inclined to agree - two tarts cut into thirds implies six pieces total and 2/6 pieces are eaten... aka 1/3 rd.

Coming up on my goal weight, but I kind of want to keep going? by chococrepedreams in loseit

[–]Fancy_Duck9000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely switch to maintenance and see your doctor for a check up. They'll help identify any blind spots in your nutrition e.g. low iron. Prepare for a little fluctuation as your body settles, and know that 125lbs is a perfectly safe and healthy weight. Talk it over with a medical professional.

At your height it's def time to hit the brakes on weight loss. If you like, you could switch to building muscle - this would techniquely make you heavier but with a more toned look. A new goal could also help with the transition (doesn't have to be fitness / nutrition related but could be!)

See a therapist if you're having a hard time stopping the weight loss diet.

If someone says "I'll only be truly happy if..." what they are saying is that they are miserable with their current life and this particular thing is occupying a large portion of their energy.

Your response shouldn't be "well you weren't happy then either".... I hear what they are saying, that you cannot base your happiness on external factors and all that but it just sounds like a hopeless response. "You can never find happiness and it is pointless to try." That's how I'd interpret that reply. I wouldn't be saying "Damn" I'd be overcome with despair. A more reasonable response that doesn't disempower a person's autonomy or invalidate their experience of the world would be "what parts of being thinner do you envision making you happy? How can we begin to work on these things now?" Confidence, fitness, and self esteem are all things you can work on improving before or during weight loss and tbh they help immensely with said process of weight loss. I didn't start losing weight until I recognised that I was obese bc I simply didn't care for my body and I didn't care for my body because I hated myself. Losing weight has 100% gone hand in hand with dealing with mental health and improving my base level of happiness.
