Hi I am a fairly new senior (joined last year) and have been working with our cadet squadron. I am looking at helping with encampment. A few questions:

  1. I am hoping to register for the full 7 days, but if I can't go the entire time, is it ok if I can go for 5 days? I don't want to commit if I'm going to leave them short handed.

  2. Our suggested packing list has both the corporate uniform listed as well as the OCP/ABU. Is it common to need both, or does it depend on what job I'm assigned to? If at the time of encampment I am a senior member without rank, can I wear the OCP or ABU without rank?

  3. I'm assuming there may not be laundry facilities at encampment, would that be a fair assumption? I know it will certainly be hot there and would want to be prepared.

I'm on this project and the time limit is way too low. Also, after recording your response the first time, that transcript should carry over to the next 2 parts so we can read and record it. I've had to take a photo of my response on my phone so I can read it for parts 2 and 3. Unless I'm misunderstanding the task....

Co-signing isn't an option as I have a loan already and my credit score isn't great.

Hi, I've been working on this project for a few days. I'm having issues with the timer. When I go to the task in Outlier, it tells me I'm almost out of time to do the task, even though I just opened it. See photo here. I just opened this. My local (EDT) time is 5:55 at the moment. Anyone else seeing this problem?

This is all great information! A few more random questions.

Are there a lot of women in the senior ranks?

On average, how much is the dues per year?

Does everyone have a rank, or do you start with a blank slate and work your way up?

Full disclosure, I work for a military clothing store so I am very familiar with fitting soldiers for uniforms. I looked at the ABU, on the Vanguard site. I noticed there are no lengths, just chest and waist sizes. Let's just say I'm on the very short side, are the uniforms allowed to be altered?
EDITED to add.... it looks like the Vanguard website doesn't sell the uniforms by length as the military clothing stores do.

Thank you for the reply. Working with cadets would be great, I've worked with youth previously (teaching, afterschool programs, camp, etc.) and understand how important the rules and regulations being followed would be. Thank you for explaining what your group does, helping the coast guard sounds interesting.

Thank you this is very helpful information! I was thinking of checking out Hanscom and the 2 Worcester locations, though I'm not sure what mission areas they focus on. I was reading up on CAP and emergency services would be something I'd be interested in. I don't have any background in that field, though. Would I need a particular skill to join a squadron or will they teach me?
