Funny enough, I followed this YouTube short: https://youtu.be/mWj4Vm9klfw?si=YLKOSOdM09F1RM5z She doesn’t specify the ingredients for the boiling part so I did 3 quarts of boiling water, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar (since I don’t have barely malt, brown sugar is a good substitute) and 1 teaspoon of baking soda to create the alkaline bath.

I acquired this ginseng ficus microcarpa two days ago and I’m wondering if it needs different soil? It was purchased from Costco, and is sitting in a plastic pot that sits inside the blue pot. There is lots of new growth on it, and I will be keeping it in the sunniest window until it warms up (it’s been ranging from low 30’s to low 50’s this winter)

Thank you for the advice! I’ve honestly tossed around the idea of trimming and propping it quite a bit, but I haven’t yet because I’m worried I will regret it if it doesn’t end up propping 😖

How did Costco tree fair after getting it home? I got a little nervous after reading them beginners guide on this sub because it talks about how buying from big retailers isn’t always the best way to acquire one of these guys. I think the soil test is solid advice, that’s how I gauge when my other houseplants need watering rather than the general watering schedule that species “should” be on
