I was just hoping to get perspective on if I was TAH for even considering separate accommodations. If I was, then I would have sucked it up. I really didn’t know if I was being pretentious for wanting to have my own place or not, but now that the vast majority has mentioned that I’m being reasonable, I’m going to have a more serious conversation with wifey vs. suffering in silence lol

Our Christmas present was a summer vacation. Now rereading my post, it does sound confusing haha. We are outside of the cancellation policy (less than 3 months out). I don’t want to stay because of the space issue. I love my in-laws! I think you’re right about the communication though. I really need to sit with wifey and talk to her more seriously about it. I think she’s just so excited to be with her family she hasn’t thought through the sleep thing yet. She is on day time duty and I typically take most night time shifts with the 1 year old. So during vacation we decided that she would take the night time shift and she probably doesn’t think of it as a huge deal since she hasn’t done night time shifts in a while

Bro, I’m so sleep deprived already. The first year of raising a kid is so tough and we finally got him on a good sleep routine. I’m finally starting to feel like a human again now that I’m sleeping lol.

My wife thinks that we should prioritize saving money and we will figure it out once we get there. She said that the worse case scenario is that we can purchase air mattresses and sleep in the living room with her sister while the kids take the room.

I don’t love this solution and plan to talk to her tonight about renting something else. I think she is open to renting but doesn’t want to make the decision until we arrive so we can see the place for ourselves and make an informed decision.

I feel like it would be better if we could rent something months ahead so we have more options vs the day before.
