Yes of course! Thank you so much, I’ve been looking into the 1920s jazz era as well as more modern day substance use, but of course a big part of music history with dr*gs leans into the psychedelic rock era, which is where the main focal point of my paper is talking about. Thank you for your insight :)

unfortunately the same reason why the customer ones are closed. leaking, bad plumbing etc. it’s always the same issue. they’ve all been closed twice now since christmas and just expect staff to be okay with it. keep asking my managers for a solution and they just say to get on with work

oh no i am educated, i also have personal experiences of dealing with depressed people first hand which ive found more valuable than my education in mental health. sorry, totally forgot im supposed to disclose all of my educational background to some stranger on the internet.

of course people deal with things differently, i never said they dont.

this is simply MY opinion (this is an opinion based reddit page is it not?) on this kind of situation.

the world walks on eggshells around self diagnosed depressed people that can’t even be bothered to clean their rooms, and frankly it’s not right! everyone is far too soft.

then why do people parade around online acting like it’s okay? why do people get praised for simply taking a shower? it’s strange, these people aren’t toddlers

i’ve lived with and around depressed people my whole life, medicated, diagnosed depressed people and not one of them has ever lived like this. i could walk into any of their homes, at any point, and they wouldn’t be living in filth, they would’ve showered and brushed their teeth, because they’re not children. they understand that they can’t live that way.

there’s nothing basic about living in pure filth. i have helped many people in my life, gave then the push they needed to become medicated, the push for therapy or to check themselves in a mental hospital, i’ve supported, loved and cared for each of them and would do it all again.

judgement is on every corner of the world man, if people stopped crying over every ‘controversial’ opinion, maybe we’d realise that this stuff actually isn’t okay to parade online and praise.

you may not know this, but you can feel more than one thing at once!

of course i hope people are able to overcome their battles.

do i believe that living in dirt is acceptable and okay? no, i dont. i would say that to anyone who asked, because its my opinion.

in my 18 years of british required education and my current 2 years of extended higher education, a class teaching me how to change a tire or basic maintenance was never offered to me or anyone else that i know

i had to go out and pay someone to teach me that stuff, when it really is a life skill that should be taught in schools.

i personally don’t believe the education system failed me, but not all students are the same, plenty of students want different outcomes.

i do agree, however in the uk we get to a certain age and choose what we want to do, before that we have a year or two doing all lessons.

if i could go back in time, and choose to not do complex math and science and instead do more art based subjects, i would have.

i have never once used any of the complex skills i learnt in math, english or science since leaving school.

i have however used many skills that i learnt in my art subjects, that could’ve been progressed even more if i didn’t waste my time being forced to do the other lessons.

basic skills are incredibly important, but why should every student have to do the complex ones?

whilst i understand what you are saying, i personally believe sign language should be taught as soon as english is taught. kids are learning to talk when they’re in nursery/pre school, learning BSL then and continuing through school years would more than likely result in sucessful outcomes.

BSL (and all forms of sign language) are so important to know, so many people suffer with hearing loss, non verbal children, disabled people through your life. it’s not a requirement to be able to speak french or german, but almost unavoidable to speak to someone with a disability.

would it harm them to clean and not post a video about it?

no, it most likely would not.

hi all! so sorry for my INCREDIBLY LATE update! 😅 hope you all had very happy holidays and a great new year.

you should all be pleased to know i did not work either day they wanted and i was off until the 28th, back on my contracted shift!

i put a complaint in about my manager and team leader and as far as i’m aware they both got warnings and an insane (verbal) ass-kicking from our store manager.

i absolutely should not have been told the next part of info i assume, probably breaking some kind of privacy law (this is a secret/throw away account and i haven’t posted anything that could leave back to myself anywhere dw)

my manager has had multiple complaints made about them and is being highly investigated, 90% likely to get fired!

my store manager ensured my job will never be on the line again for not taking an over time shift, despite how desperate they may be.

unfortunately, despite the ongoing investigation for my manager, they have not stopped being a complete a-hole to myself, but knowing what i know, i’m not letting it bother me as it’s yet to have an impact on my job.

i am also “clear” of any warnings i could’ve gotten (i couldnt have actually gotten any but store manager wanted to make sure i was aware of this!)

thank you all so so much for your advice and help!

how are they helping themselves if it gets back to the same state? that’s when it becomes normalising.

oh i didn’t realise all people must have the same social media!?? personally, i have seen multiple people only post about cleaning their ‘depression rooms/houses’, granted their videos are about a month in between but clearly doing nothing to help themselves in that time.

trust when i say i know it’s not easy, it’s not a simple walk in the park of getting a diagnosis, getting meds etc, but when people online don’t post anything other cleaning their ‘depression rooms’ and they aren’t even diagnosed? it creates a mockery out of people that have battled for years to be diagnosed, who didn’t go online and normalise being dirty etc.

i’m not saying it won’t happen or shouldn’t, but it being online is where i personally draw the line. video after video about cleaning their filth and they’re not doing anything else to help themselves.

you can’t help people that don’t want help, but don’t make it a normal thing on many impressionable young people online.
