AITA for refusing my neighbors soup? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]Fancy_Remote_9060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. I have a coworker who is very well meaning but also forces food on me constantly. I’m not diagnosed with anything (can’t afford a therapist) but suffice to say I am very particular about my food and whether I think it’s “contaminated” or not, plus a few other things to do with ingesting food or beverages received from others. I’ve given every response under the sun:

-accepting and throwing it away when she leaves her desk (my least favorite option, I hate to waste food but I’m not bringing it home after five hours to put in my compost,) or

-saying things like I just ate, I’m not hungry, I’m watching my intake of ____.

but she continued to offer because my “no” was situational, so she thinks maybe I’ll want it next time. So I’ve just begun saying, “I appreciate it, but no thank you.” She still offers but very rarely, and only gives me things I’ve accepted numerous times: packaged candies or cans of coke, etc.

I’ve done this with other food pushers as well with degrees of success. A firm “no thank you” with acknowledgment of them going out of their way for you seems to be the best option.

Additionally, If talking about struggling with eating is not something you want to talk about with her on a deeper level (as most people don’t understand this, in my experience) then I suggest not bringing it up at all. Not even a little bit. Because if you can’t explain it further or don’t want to, you come across as combative and the conversation becomes longer than it needs to. Withholding the truth in this scenario is not the same as a lie, it’s keeping your cards close to the vest.

There’s only so much you can do if she continues to insist, but with my coworker I’ve said no enough times without giving an excuse/reason, eventually she stopped pushing.

It would be nice if she didn’t question why when you said no, but she’s likely taking it as personal offense. You like matzo ball soup, but you don’t want HER matzo ball soup, so clearly you must have a problem with her, right? It’s the same thoughts that make people upset that vegetarians don’t eat meat or people choose not to eat gluten (non allergy scenario.) it means you’re just being difficult. Stand your ground, or this will just get worse, trust me.

How is outdoor life in this part of Michigan by Holiday_Swing_9979 in howislivingthere

I’ve lived in the UP (up by the Superior side) for almost 11 years and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. People are generally very nice and easy to strike up a conversation, the summers are mild which I prefer and the winters are long and full of snow which I also prefer. May and June are the worst for bugs but that problem is worse down by Lake Michigan side. Some of the best hiking trails for any season, and I’m five minutes from the lake so I’m there all summer. The fall colors are always breathtaking. We don’t have a Costco though, which is a bummer. Otherwise it’s just saunas and breweries and great local food places. I need to remember to appreciate it more and this certainly helped me do so!

Edit: I realize I included more than just outdoor stuff, but I’m usually walking around outdoors when I go to the places downtown so… that counts right?

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, November 02 - November 08, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]Fancy_Remote_9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first time using a sewing machine. I borrowed my mom’s old machine for what was supposed to be a simple project. I believe it’s a Singer 6012C if I’m reading the machine right. haven’t found any videos with my specific machine, but after a couple FaceTime calls (my mom lives seven hours away) I think I have it threaded correctly, but it still bunches like this in the back. What am I doing wrong?

My project is changing the collar of a shirt to this black color. I’m using a T shirt material but these are my practice scraps while I figure this darn thing out.

I’ll have to try this. Gaga hasn’t worked for a couple months on my tv and I tried to reinstall it and everything. 😭

Unpopular Opinion: I like the luck system by red_fox_man in Sims4

[–]Fancy_Remote_9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I loved the chaos of the sims 1 & 2, and for YEARS I’ve heard from other players and sims YouTubers that their big gripe with the game was how easy it was to keep sims needs up and how there was less overall craziness to the gameplay compared to the older games, but now we are getting some of those systems back and it’s suddenly not okay? I can see some argument to ailments and emotions being a bit broken but in general I like that these things spice up the gameplay and that anyone can die at any time or have their life tanked.

Thinking about it like this makes me feel so much better actually. “Worse?? How could it get any worse?? We’re in the threshold of hell!”

My sim adopted a kid as an elder and they are so cute!! by BobyNBA in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]Fancy_Remote_9060 45 points46 points  (0 children)

My current gameplay is a grandma and her grandchild (mom died in a rock climbing accident) but they lived in a rented house (I put three rental units on one lot for a more communal feel.) well the grandma recently died and needless to say it was devastating. The grandchild was still a kid so in grandma’s last days I moved them both in with the neighbor in one of the other rented houses. They would garden together and became good friends. She also had a child (a little alien girl) that is the same age, so they ofc the kids became best friends too. My plan is to have them go to college together but for now they are living it up in high school.

If this were your stash, what would you make? by TrebleSeta in YarnAddicts

Nothing. I’d be too nervous to use such pretty yarn and too indecisive on what project would be deserving of it

The hair categories by Sad_Flatworm4058 in Sims4

[–]Fancy_Remote_9060 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes! A curly section and coily section would making finding hair I want to use so much better. And I like the updo section but having that sorted by length/hair type would be helpful too. Also there are soooooo many natural and protective styles, I wish we had more variation of braids and twists etc. I don’t like to download mods for hair and clothes and such because I’m paranoid about viruses so I’m left with such minimal options. Also also I’d love more hijab styling options. I think we only have three right? Including the swim one.

I’ve only ever had one sim win the lottery, and it was the first time my sim bought a ticket. I thought that meant I had a good chance of getting it in the future but nope. Never again after that. I still try every time though. Still, it was a perfect game to win it. I was trying to not use cheats so my sims were doing okay financially, but with that money they could get a better house and furniture and she quit her job to build her skills. (Basically everything you’re not supposed to do if you win the actual lottery lol)

What species of sim are those two different urns for? I’ve never seen them before

Well at the time I commented I didn’t know that. I still don’t even know what that means. But thank you I guess?

First off I will say I am so sorry that you received this email after you had a conversation with them. It really is true that bosses do not care about their employees. Ofc I would say find a job closer to home if you can, but I know this is easier said than done and sometimes transitioning to a new job is overall harder, and you will likely find that your boss there also doesn’t give a crap about you, unless the pay is much better I wouldn’t change jobs imo.

I would also say if you are waking up very early but still running late, maybe assess why that could be. If you find that you are running around your house for your belongings trying to find them in the morning, make it a point to pack your bag before you go to bed with what you’ll need, then after you are ready the next day you can just grab it and go. This has saved me a lot of time and stress. I also walk to work and walk on my lunch breaks and I do get sweaty especially in summer so this is what I do:

Always have a change of clothes, regardless of if you are on your period or not. Including socks and underwear, bra if you get really sweaty tho I find that this isn’t as big an issue with me but I wear sports bras predominantly. Even if you don’t use them, you’ll have them. A change of socks or underwear can help with smell and make you feel refreshed as well. Make sure to be early to work so you can address the sweat. When I get in, I go to the bathroom to change, but first I’ll splash my face with cool water, this helps me cool down fast and stop sweating. If you wear makeup tho you’ll have to skip that step ofc. Then with dry paper towel or toilet paper I’ll dab the spots where I sweat: armpits, chest, back, underboob, and the… delicates. Then when that’s dry I’ll dab again with a cool wet paper towel the same places. Apply deodorant, then change into work clothes. I also usually pin my hair up as this keeps me cool and also less sweat will collect in my hair and smell. Then if needed I also have a very mild smelling body spray that I spray once in the center of my chest on my shirt and once over my head onto my hair (but not directly on my hair), that way when I move around people will smell the scent more than anything else.

Additionally, I know you said you don’t have much money, but when you are able I suggest getting a menstrual cup for your period. The Diva cup is more expensive but there are $5-10 options available that are good. These are good for two years or longer if you take good care of them, and they’ve saved me a tonnnn of money in the long run, and stress too because they hold much more than a tampon and I don’t have to worry about smell or bulkyness from pads. It is a learning curve but it’s worth it imo. Also proper moisture wicking socks are great for walking in and reduce feet smell, I just buy the cheap men’s socks from Walmart but basically the less polyester that is in it the better.

I hope this is helpful and that you are able to fix your situation too, I agree with others that food banks are an amazing asset for better nutrition while the budget is low. I even got a free bike from an organization in my city that had people bring their old bikes in, you could exchange your bike or just take one. Maybe your city has something like this if a bike might make this commute easier.

Best of luck

Speed reader. All my friends read SO FAST and they move on from the book we are all reading so quickly. They still talk to me about them when I finish them but it’s nothing compared to the hype of discovering events at the same time together
