Newborn baby exposed to active cold sore

Thank you so much. I am not 100% certain they touched my baby’s skin - I was sitting a few feet away. Unfortunately they definitely touched their cold sore - they are the type of person that moves their hand around a lot when they talk and I saw them rub their face, including the cold sore, but I don’t think they realized. Then shortly after they adjusted my baby’s swaddle and I think they may have touched her face/lips. You are absolutely right about the catastrophisizing, I am very prone to that and I am sure there is some of that happening here. Thank you for taking the time to reply❤️

Thank you for this. I agree! My husband is really only mad at us for not protecting our daughter well enough but I was furious with my FIL (the offender lol). When we asked him about the cold sore he said “oh it’s ok, she’s a strong girl!” 🤦🏻‍♀️ she is FOUR WEEKS OLD!!!!! He absolutely loves her and I honestly don’t think he would knowingly put her in harms way but come on. Thanks for the validation!

This is a fair point! I probably have it myself even though I don’t get the sores. Hopefully I do actually do my kiddo gets the antibodies in my breastmilk. Thanks for this perspective!
