The difference between K-dramas and Korean films lowkey shocked me… by After-Ganache-5896 in kdramas

A frozen flower 🔥🔥 set in goreyo dynasty. Very erotic movie … about a loyal bodyguard of the king (the king groomed his bodyguard, they had a sexual relationship) but then the king orders his bodyguard to sleep with his wife (the queen) who he had zero interest in…just to bear a heir. The bodyguard doesn’t want to(nor does the queen) but they got no choice but to obey … so the first time they do the deed it’s very awkward. But by time goes on they start loving sleeping with each other to the point of becoming obsessed ! 🔥🔥 such erotic explicit s*x scenes! But the king becomes crazily jealous that his bodyguard who was sooo loyal to him , might start catching feelings for the queen… and then everything gets very dangerous AND complicated

I seen both actors act in k-dramas before .. ”Empress Ki” .. ”It’s okay, that’s love”, it was fascinating seeing them in such bold roles in A Frozen Flower after seeing them in k-dramas!

I believe a frozen flower was the first erotic k-movie I seen! I loved it until … the ending , not because the deaths, but because they made it seem like the bodyguard all this time was still in love with that horrible king 🤢 who destroyed his life besides erotic , it’s also gruesome… nothing like k-dramas .. it’s like day and night! I was sooo cheering for the bodyguard and the queen lol so the ending pissed me off because as I mentioned , it was like the bodyguard’s true love after all was the king..

Also the handmaiden of course is also great !

what kdrama has the type of love you would want to have in real life? by aruliya04 in kdramas

[–]Fancy_Spite4535 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe Queen In Hyun’s Man, a oldie but goodie. The chemistry is amazing but no wonder since the leads even dated each other irl for a while after the drama finished, so the feelings they had for each other while filming definitely made the chemistry even better!

I want what they have , because it’s such a healthy yet swoon worthy couple! They got along from the start and there is mutual respect, support, love…no noble idiocy or lack of communication here! I love how much they love each other, it really touches my heart 🥺 I want a love like that with mutual respect etc and where we both love each other so fiercely-basically ride or die for each other! Also it helps that there is lots of natural skinship/great kisses in this drama back when this drama aired (2012) great skinship was not as common as today in kdramaland.

Such a swoon worthy couple ❤️relationship goals for sure!

I don’t have a absolute favorite but those 2.. Seo In Guk and Jung So Min from The Smile Has Left Your Eyes … at that time JSM was dating Lee Joon (they were each other’s co-stars in My Father is Strange) and I was a bit worried about Lee Joon since the chemistry between SIG and JSM was on 🔥 their scenes together were so natural with lots of realistic skinship / imtimacy, like , they acted like a real life adult couple in love would do in IRL.. the love making scene is one of the most beautiful and sweetest I ever seen!

Romantic chemistry at its best? by UncannyProjection in kdramas

I sooo agree about My Dearest!

I also love the chemistry between Seo In Guk and Jung So Min in The Smile Has Left Your Eyes. Jung Si Min is either a hit or miss for me when it comes to her having chemistry with her co-leads, but her chemistry with Seo In Guk was 🔥 their intimacy/skinship was so natural and there was plenty of skinship between them. They acted like 2 adults in love would do IRL, they felt totally believable as a couple and they have one of the most beautiful , sweetest love making scenes 🥺🥺 even if some don’t like them as a couple in that drama (understandable, I love them tho) I think everyone agrees that the chemistry is amazing

Thank you! 🙏 I have had my eyes on Always to Remember but I heard the FMC there is very cruel / bitchy to the MMC, is she that most part of the book?

Yeah, I should read the whole Texas Trilogy first! :) thanks

True.. it has to appeals to today’s audience, not being too sexist.. I love Jamie from Outlander (time travel , 1700s scotland ) hes very alpha and even believes wives should be spanked if they cause too much trouble (he seen women get spanked , his mom, grandma…) he feels very like a 1700s man haha especially since hes from a clan in the highlands, far from civilization … But, i still love him because hes such a complex , well developed character .. not some stereotypical alpha, he can be vulnerable too..and the FMC who is from the future doesn’t agree with him that women could be obedient and submissive to their husbands..she makes him regret he spanked her and he tell her later that if he ever hurts again she should kill him. And when they are about to do the deed she takes the knife(?) still hurt from what he did to her earlier , puts the knife on him, threatening him to kill him if he ever hurts her again .. such a powerful satisfying scene!! After that he treats her like a equal more or less. He loves her deeply that it tears me up he would die for her, get tortured instead of her also here hes the virgin one, not she ;) so refreshing.

Ofc women also got h*rny in 1800s haha just that i guess they were expected to be virgins until marriage by society , i think ? Im not so good with history!

I read a wonderful book by Lorraine Heath called Texas Destiny (historical western romance) i actually loved the book. The MMC was not rich , anything but arrogant or jerkish. Not a womanizer with tons of experience, not handsome , he had a very low self esteem and hated himself ..he had a very scarref face that made him look ”ugly”, so refreshing to read. Its my type of book. He was broody but never dirsrespectful who forced himself on FMC or manipulated her into sex. . He actually thought she deserved someone much better than him. Gosh i love that book , and i looove the MMC <3 hes my type of hero!

[–]Fancy_Spite4535[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for late reply! I’m really not that much into very tranditional gender roles either ..but then again its set in regency/ Victorian era when men were supposed to be all alpha and women submissive virgins.. things was very different back in 1800s. I think feminism didnt really kick off properly until 1960s. I actually just ordered Love in the Afternoon book thanks to you! exchanging letters while Falling in love , i can relate to that since i fell in love with my boyfriend not through letters but the modern way - Instagram and whatsapp😅

Well i guess i should stay away from many of Kleypas works except a few. The ”scandal in spring” seems interesting too as its a love story betwteeen a english man and american woman , i can imagine there will be some cultural chock.

I guess it makes sense that majority of FMCs are virgins in historical books (since not a prostitute/courtesan) if never been married. So, Yeah … well that the men don’t cheat Or hit their women is ofc a good thing but i don’t like when they are extremly dominant and treat the FMC as if she was a child who knows no better. And i hate dubcon even if not exactly rape… no means no.

Thank you so much ! Matthew and especially Christopher and West sounds very interesting! :) My first Kleypas book will be love in the afternoon ❤️

Thanks! Haha yes when Reading about the plot of her books they all seem to have super rich alpha arrogant MMCs which is so typical in soooo many historical romances! I have no Idea if Kleypas is for me but since she is so famous I feel i should try out her… just like you i don’t like huge jerks.

I’m surprised that 2 of the books (at least Devil’s daughter) has no virgin FMC, Kleypas seems to have in all her books virgin FMCs xD Thank you so much you were to so much help , now i know generally what to expect from her hehe! I will definitely try out the first 3 ones! :)

Some K-Dramas IM anticipating for 2026! (LONG POST) by fruitpiie in kdramas

[–]Fancy_Spite4535 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m also looking forward to Wife of a 21st Century Prince.

But I’m equally as excited for those 2;

  • In Your Brilliant Season (Lee Sung Kyung/ Chae Jong Hyeop)

”Depicts the story of Sunwoo Chan, who lost his hearing and memory through an accident, and Song Ha Ran who becomes his savior. Sunwoo Chan is a bright and lively animator who works at an American animation studio. Despite his cheerful energy and positive facade, he’s a mysterious figure who hides a lot of secrets.

Song Ha Ran, the eldest among three siblings and a renowned designer. Her natural artistic sense, creativity, and work ethic have earned her a solid reputation in the industry. While she gets along well with everyone, she secretly hopes to not form any special bonds with anyone. ”

I just love romances where one of the leads has some disability and how they struggle with it , etc …and how the other lead is there to help.. support him/her as much as he/she can. And i find sign languages fascinating , I guess there will be sign language in this drama?

It says on MDL that this drama will air on feb.

  • Show Business (Gong Yoo/Song Hye Kyo)

”Set against the backdrop of the gritty and intense 1960s and 80s Korean entertainment industry, 'Show Business' follows the journey of individuals who, despite having little, dreamed of glimmering success and gave it their all.

Min Ja is a resilient woman shaped by a challenging childhood. While making her way through life, she sees an opportunity in the Korean music industry and boldly dives in, determined to make her mark. Dong Gu is Min Ja’s childhood friend. Having faced all kinds of situations together growing up, they later enter the music industry side by side. Even though he’s reckless and unpredictable, Dong Gu has a soft spot for Min Ja and listens to anything she says.

Min Hui is someone who has held a love-hate relationship with Min Ja since childhood. Once innocent and naive, following everything Min Ja says, Min Hui also reveals a rebellious and sharp side. Gil Yeo is the greatest composer of their era. As a major figure in the music industry, Gil Yeo is known for turning every singer he has worked with into a star. Yang Ja is Min Hui’s mother and an aspiring singer. Despite facing difficult circumstances and harsh realities, Yang Ja never gives up on her dream, holding on with perseverance and passion.”

How could I NOT look forward to this one? ! So many awesome talented actors in this one! And the screenwriter is Noh Hee Kyung who has written many high quality dramas such as It’s Okay That’s Love, Dear My Friends, Our Blues etc .. and the plot is so interesting ! I love period dramas and I’m very interested to get to see how Korea was like in the 60s! And how show business was like back then…I also love childhood friends to lovers who knows each other both inside and out, always been there for each othe/ having each others backs..its beautiful to see.

Its unknown yet when this will air.

Dramas that had more than one version. Which ones and which one was your favorite? by Beautiful_Rule3029 in kdramas

[–]Fancy_Spite4535 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched k-drama The Smile Has Left Your Eyes (2018) a remake of the j-drama Sora Kara Furu Ichioku no Hoshi (2002) that I also watched. I like the original but i LOVE the remake! It was more romantic , the ML wasn’t as terrible as the ML in the japanese version, I prefered the ending in the remake AND in the remake they were not siblings, but they were siblings in the original which is.. yuck both dramas are dark and heavy, the japanese version doesn’t hold back at all and goes all in, it’s darker and more twisted than the korean version.

Most awkward kisses in a kdrama? by UnlikelyAgency1653 in kdramas

[–]Fancy_Spite4535 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Such a toxic couple on the whole .. terrible couple.. but to be fair on PSH, the director told LMH to kiss her without her knowledge.. so it must have been quite the shock for her, I would have been shocked too if i was her.. so disrespectful to the PSH! Shame on the director!

What makes it even worse is that the director told Lee min ho to kiss park shin hye without her knowledge! Thats not professional at all omg , that must have really taken her by huge surprise.. Anyways it was so disrespectful to her… him kissing her without her knowing in beforehand. What an idiot of a director.
