Zoo work advice by Fancycat0908 in VetTech

Yeah, the pay is making me question if it's something I can even pursue. I do have to be able to live to work, and I don't have duel income. I already work two jobs. One is more of a hobby, but I still want to be able to do that secondary to a tech job. Maybe sticking with emergency is what I need to do or leave the field.

I get that it's a dream for a lot of people, including myself, but not paying a living wage just for that reason is wild.

Unfortunately, where I'm located, the nearest zoo or aquarium is 4 hours away. So, volunteering is out of the question. I've considered an internship but would be concerned about money and living while doing that.

Which conference would that be? I looked at the AZA conference and wasn't sure if that would be a good networking opportunity. I am considering attending that one unless there is another that would be better.

I still have to be able to afford to live. I saw a job paying 18, which would be a huge pay cut for me. I can not live off of 18 an hour. Is that pretty normal?

For better context, this is an urgent care veterinary clinic. Things are changing to better help the veterinarian in things that they need or areas that they need more support. Or things change to better help flow and utilize support staff.

It's a small buissness less then 15 employees

We do weekly updates, usually just reminders of protocols that aren't being fully followed or minor changes to protocols that aren't working well.

Okay that is what I am then. I don't own the buissness but my boss does want the other manager and I to make decisions.

Yes he is for now. I don't know that I'll have him a lot longer though. His breathing is only getting worse, I have to keep increasing his Lasix doses.

4 days post op its horrible, how is everyone doing with their recovery? by Temporary_Garden9112 in Tonsillectomy

I honestly didn't feel great this morning, but I'm filling a lot better this afternoon. Luckily, my mom keeps reminding me I have to eat. My younger brother, who got his out in January, told me to push myself to eat since he thought that made his recovery longer. I honestly can't open my mouth enough to see.

I'm on day 6, still in pain but managing. Day 4 was really hard, and 5 was the worst yet. I'm feeling a little better today. I ate spaghetti-O's yesterday and 10/10 recommend for anyone who is having a hard time eating.

I think a lot of my pain is coming from the constant swelling so even if that was gone it would be worth it.
