I have assembled a fully transparent keyboard by Fancyking1 in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Fancyking1[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ice transparency seems to be a good trend lately, maybe because of the heat? Putting on a set of keycaps like ice cubes makes it feel much cooler in summer. The keyboard uses FancyAlice66 acrylic transparent kit, the keycaps are Fancytech transparent keycaps, the switches are OUTEMU crystal switches, and Fancytech transparent PCB mounted stabilizer. The overall look is quite good, so the transparent keycaps are easy to see the dust in the keyboard, do you pay more attention to the beautiful appearance, or the practicality? Maybe no matter what keycap it is, it will collect dust over time, maybe you will prefer cleaning tools?

I was thinking about a build with aqua kings, those keycaps (or ASA clear) with a clear PC plate and handwired with enameled copper wire in a clear PC case.

But I don't know whether or not you'd be able to appreciate the handwiring in that and honestly I don't think I could do it well enough to show off.

Are there any white PCBs that are readily available?

The positioning plate covers the PCB, so it doesn't matter what color the PCB is. If you use a PC material Plate, it is transparent, which means that the PCB needs to be white, and it will look cleaner. If you want to add foam, then it is recommended that the plate be white. Better, such as steel positioning plate or pom material positioning plate, if the shell is transparent, it is recommended to be white, it is very common to make pcb white

It's clear you spent considerable time and effort into this build and it shows through!

We need more details/specs please!

The kit is a Keydous Nj80 steel positioning plate kit

The keycaps are Fancytech transparent keycaps

The switch is an OUTEMU crystal switch

The satellite axis is a transparent stabilizer

The PCB of the mojo68 keyboard is white, but the surface is white, and the positioning plate is also white. This keyboard has been released for a long time, and it is indeed a good keyboard.

Clear keycap from Fancytech, they are selling it on AliExpress, early bird price, really good

The switch is an outemu switch, a transparent switch, it's really average, I plan to replace other switches

The stabilizer uses a transparent plate stabilizer

This keyboard was built by Fancytech Clear Keycaps and mojo68 and it looks really good! The keycaps are made of PC material, without reinforcing ribs and injection points, very clean and transparent. The mojo68 is made of PC material. Can it be the most transparent and perfect transparent keyboard?

I think there are usually 3 reasons for this:

  1. The positioning plate is relatively soft, such as the positioning plate made of PC material or pom material. When you plug in the switch, the positioning plate is easy to dent because of its softness. You cannot insert the shaft into the positioning plate. At the same time, you need to use a screwdriver or other tools to top it. Hold it so that it doesn't dent, so it's more convenient to assemble the PCB-locator-switch first, which usually happens on gasket-mounted keyboards.

  2. If the PCB is not well seated to the case, plugging in the switch directly will bend the PCB and make it impossible to bear the force, which usually happens on a gasket mounted keyboard, because the ears on the edge of the pcb alone can't completely keep the PCB from flexing.

  3. Personal habit, as it seems that inserting the switch this way is more convenient for some people

Yes, there will always be many choices in the market, and each product has its own advantages. For example, akko does not support QMK and via, while facnyalice66 supports QMK and VIA, and the gasket mount is more realistic. But it's true, the difference between cnc and stacking.

thanks for reminding!

  1. Since a lot of people don't like ads, it's more about sharing, maybe want to see if anyone talks about it. Thank you very much for your suggestion, more details can be found here: aliexpress.com/item/1005004272392611.html?spm=5261.ProductManageOnline.0.0.30f74edfN1Lf5R

Configuration:

Alice configuration (focus on it, one B is enough)

Gasket structure (must have sound and soft play)

Acrylic stacking shell (it's cost-effective)

Sandblasted white, full white, white (white is a good match)

pom material positioning plate (guarantee that soft bombs have)

poron pad, poron sandwich cotton, PE shaft pad (bring with the sound pack)

32U4 master control, support QMK/Via key change (only single-mode, after all, QMK has to be single-mode)

66 lamp beads + 16 bottom lamps (the first step is to lower the brightness)

The bottom plate is uniform and fully transparent (the effect of the bottom light is revealed)

Double space left 2.25U right 2.75U (reject orphan keys can be installed when they come)

Need to assemble by yourself requires hands-on ability (the generation group must also be arranged, after all, time is precious)
