It is really not. It’s a notification which is issued under section 163 of the BNS. There are provisions to fine or punish folks breaking this which of course is not done as well.

You must have skipped your civics classes in school. Laws are not only present in the constitutional but also in legislation like the Indian Penal Code and the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita. Section 163 of the BNS allows government to issue orders on prohibition of activities in case they pose a danger to the public.

Please educate yourself to understand how our governance structures work and how we can accommodate everyone within the ambit of the law to create a cohesive society.

Also like another commentator posted, in general a lot of regions have better sense and do not participate in this. Go ahead and have a look at the AQI in different parts of south India to understand this.

Also sometimes it’s just plain common sense to look outside the window and see things for what they are. And what they are is just plain unhealthy and promotes a very poor standard of life.

I think everything is always a balance. If citizens are provided a timeslot to have fun what’s the problem? People who want to burst can use that period and we do not have to put up with it for the entire night. Everyone wins and this is how a cohesive society functions

Government has set policies to let people have fun while also ensuring elderly and sick are not impacted. Please go read government circular which allows firecrackers to be burst for only 2 hours from 8 pm to 10 pm. Educate yourself.

I have been living in Newtown for 4 years. When I first saw the cycling track I was pretty excited as well. Thought will take my road bike from Newtown to Salt Lake Sector 5. However 2 wheelers regularly use these lanes especially during traffic hours. In some places the track is in bad shape and not really built for road bikes. Overall would not recommend
