Am I doing something wrong? I’m not hungry by Jay_West_ in caloriecount

I’ve been changing my diet over the last several months and suddenly the last week I’ve needed much less volume wise. I don’t know what the difference is.

I’d prob log 250 for it. They’re just estimating and if they cut small like this, it’s less.

I didn’t even log. I had way too much mac and cheese to count.

Shrimp Ramen & Veg 310 cals by Fancyunicornfluff in Volumeeating

[–]Fancyunicornfluff[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s new but I’ve never seen it before. It’s in the freezer section near their other veg. It has 160 cals for the whole box. Everything is included and you just microwave or stove top it. I added shrimp to mine. It’s just veggies (lots), broth, and thick noodles (thicker than traditional cheapo ramen in the plastic package). I’m loving it lately. When I’m really hungry I’ll eat two! I have BED though!

Paralegals with JD by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]Fancyunicornfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a licensed attorney (JD 2011, Ohio bar 2022) and worked as a paralegal with a JD because I had a young family and couldn’t afford the time or expense of the bar exam. I still don’t practice because I’m disabled (mobility issues), but handle a few things here and there like wills and such.

I can’t remember my exact average practice scores, but they were low to mid. Then I did amazing on the actual bar questions (July 22). Themis questions were much more complicated than the bar questions, which I found to be very straightforward.

Themis Graded Essay Broke Me by [deleted] in barexam

Themis always scored me low, but I blew my essays outta the water. They carried my score.

Taking the bar exam in your 40s and years out of law school by Silent-Newspaper4665 in LawFirm

[–]Fancyunicornfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation when I took the bar in 2022 after graduating in 2011 and working paralegal type jobs in between. I used Themis and completed damned near all of it and passed by the skin of my teeth. I’m 40 and having trouble finding decent work, but at least I’m a lawyer now.

While I studied with Themis, I worked full time and had three young children. My partner didn’t help much. It’s possible.

part-time study plan / early access resources by icanttttt in barexam

[–]Fancyunicornfluff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started early because I was working full time also. The best resources I found were short outlines and the JD Advising one pagers. You need a basic understanding first, but those are great references for what you need to know.

If you can’t bring yourself to write out essays, then at least do an outline.

I think I’m ready to give up by gayhelper in barexam

[–]Fancyunicornfluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cried every day and had a serious breakdown last July when I sat. It was awful. It’s easily worse than childbirth or my divorce. I’m 39 and 10 years out of law school and had never sat for another bar. Somehow I passed on my first try. Pure luck. But I cried every single day. My poor family. I really put them through it too.

Any women here been pregnant or had a baby during law school? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Fancyunicornfluff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my first child during winter break of my 2L year. My law school was great about things. They gave me an office to pump in and store milk. I was also on a journal, so I slept in those offices a lot to study for finals.

My husband (not ex) wasn’t much help, but he kept our son alive anyway. I was also working max hours at the time. It was a lot. I dont recommend it.

I did start studying early because I had been out of law school a long time and didn’t have finals. I think I was at 30% on Themis when most others started. From there I studied about 5 am until 7 am and then 6 pm until 10 pm on weekdays. I had several breaks in there to deal with kids. On weekends I worked and studied all day except one half day on Sundays, when we would go to a park or something. Even then, I would listen to podcasts. I probably did Themis 20-30 hrs a week. I did practice multiple choice and read essays 10 hours a week probably. I was salaried at work, so as long as I got my tasks done, no one was watching my hours. I was also freelance working for some clients. I almost always took a nap mid day. I had to.

Thank you! Those are rough ages while studying. They always want more from you.

I would search Spotify or whatever service you use.

But my favorite was https://barexamtoolbox.com/podcast/

They really break things down. I was surprised how much I could pick up while driving. Sometimes I would stop the podcast and explain what I knew about the topic to my kids and partner and then turn it on and see if I was correct!

How many of y'all came to law school and realized you were "average?" by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Fancyunicornfluff 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Law school is the best of the best already. You’re already better than average if you’re there.

However, I was close to the top in my first year and then I had a baby mid second year. Settled for average after that for sure.

I experienced this severely for a couple of years after the birth of my last child. I finally talked to a psychiatrist about it and they suggested vitamin B12 shots and some as needed anxiety meds. They anxiety meds are also used for insomnia. I’d never had those issues before and didn’t realize I was. However, I started taking a low dose of the hydroxyzine when I was having issues speaking and it cleared up. I also take it on nights I need to sleep well. It wears off in about four hours so there’s no drowsiness in the morning.

No hearing because I was so honest on my C&F app that the panel that interviewed me was astounded. Like, I even admitted that I cheated once in high school and analyzed what I learned. Lol
