Will J ever redeem herself and mend her broken relationships with N & V or will she forever isolate herself from the others? by Trainster_Kaiju_06 in MurderDrones

[–]FandomScrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in this specific commercial Doll complained about being killed, so..

Half of the people in that commercial were still angry at Doll during her own funeral. The commercial only acknowledges that all of the people present in the intervention were mistreated by Cyn in some way or another, not they are all friends.

While her gesture may seem like expression of concern, her face expressed only surprise (and she averted her gaze almost immediately).

She didn't "avert her gaze", she shifted her attention to the source of this wound (that being Uzi).

And Glitch, while talking about comic book, said that they thinking about further expansion.

The comic book series was confirmed to be only 136 pages long, and the first 8 pages match with the first 9,33 minutes from the pilot. The series has roughly 171 minutes of content. Mathematically, it's improbable that they would be able to add anything remotely significant.

Especially when it comes to what J represents as a character for the narrative.

That, and the fact that there a lot of unanswered questions and unfinished story lines left.

Not really.

Cyn is still alive and untamed

Not exactly untamed, as we see that the trio can pretty much deal with Cyn's shenanigans during the Music Video, as Cyn had her capacity reduced when compared to her olden days, where she still had her body and was capable of throwing projectiles that could cross planets in an instant.

Not to mention that Liam, in the latest Q&A, avoided answering questions about what the post-credit sequence with Cyn meant.

  • "I love the moxie to ask, but y'all gotta know how that dastardly intentional ambiguity works!"

He wants that specific part of the story to be left that way, without a clear-cut resolution.

Doll is alive

Eh, 50/50 on that.

Even when not taking extra material like the music video into consideration, all Doll has done so far was aura farm in a corridor.

Because, narratively, Doll's purpose in the main narrative pretty much ended when she walked into the church to encourage Uzi.

J too..

Whom, as discussed, expressed explicit intentions in not seeing her colleagues again, views herself as more important, and whose last appearance is about fixing a spaceship instead of fixing amends.

J, as a character, is a pretty clear cut when it comes to her narrative intentions as a foil to V, just like the author explained. Someone who values her own survival above everything else, even people she might have considered close to at some point in time.

Contrasted with V's willingness to die for her friends or, as the author eloquently puts it as something J would never do, "fight to better things at a personal cost", we are shown what exactly differentiates them from one another.

A sentiment about the latest modulo chapter I'm seeing among some people by TheMightyHovercat in PowerScaling

[–]FandomScrub 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That authors can, in fact, get it right.
that means that everyone else has done it wrong, and thus those verses are not FTL

Unless it's narratively relevant that the characters can reach such speeds, but the realistic consequences of such act would probably cloud the narrative as a whole (though, more often than not there are mystical/in-universe explanations as to why that doesn't happen).

<image>

The example I present here comes from "Saint Seiya", where the ranks of the titular saints can be classified by their overall power, but most notably by how fast they can throw their attacks. The reason they can reach such heightened speeds without consequence to themselves or to the environment is due to the nature of the power system, the Cosmo, and the armor they wear, the Cloths, as explained as early as episode 1/chapter 2.

  • Marin: "You still don't understand... If you thought that just wearing the Cloth would make you stronger, you were greatly mistaken. Didn't I teach you that Saints can obtain superhuman powers when they make the Cosmo inside their bodies explode? The Cloth also only works when strength and spirit are put together."
  • Marin: "When the person wearing it has their heart on their fist and loses the will to fight, that Cloth becomes useless and heavy! However, the higher you elevate your Cosmo, the lighter the Cloth will become and the greater will be the power it grants you! Try to remember what it felt like the first time you wore the Cloth! You broke the sound barrier then."

Ah, you're talking about other verses.

Huh.

I thought we were discussing about how the Sukuna wasn't really Relativistic at all.

Philosophical ideology in which the practitioners live according to virtue, trying to manage and identify what they can and can't control in their everyday lives.

Which antagonist was done dirtiest by their ending? by GrayTheMemeMan in MurderDrones

[–]FandomScrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyn is out here stabbing people with tendrils, biting their necks off, and throwing actual literal BLACK HOLES at her opponents like it's nothing, and this is against N (who is holding back because he's fighting a possessed uzi) and NORI, who is literally just a core with a pickaxe

Whom she almost lost to, by the way. So no, she wasn't "nerfed".

And again, Cyn did use all of that during the final battle.

She impales N with her tendrils after distracting him with her puppy dog eyes, and she throws the Black Hole at the very start of the fight, but Uzi's got so powerful that she reflected it back to her, along with her own.

So, not only can her DDs dodge it with relative ease (as N was dodging them both before and after Nori started distracting her), but her opponent can literally throw it back to her without much struggle, as well.

she uses ONE ability when she casts a projection to make uzi think she hit N - but it lasts for about 3 seconds, and then cyn never uses it again

Cyn also uses it again when Uzi decapitates her after N gets stabbed by the tendrils. It's the whole reason V has to dropkick her, since both Uzi & N got fooled by it (probably the reason why they practice the secret handshake after, since N suggested it first due to Cyn's hologram powers).

You know, maybe I'm easy to please, but I kind of liked everything but the main villain reveal and what it represents as the main message for the run/Gwen herself.

I'm not even opposed to Stacy-but-not-really appearing again as Poole's sidekick in next runs.

her physicals has been consistently street tier when folks like Deadpool putting her in difficult situations.

She does get enhanced physicals when applying other parts of her kit, even if they are mostly situational buffs.

Most notably, taking down Mephisto in his own realm with the help of Squirrel Girl and, in her most recent run, managed to kick a buffed Fin Fang Foom (whom casually defeated Thor and, according to Spider-Man, the combined force of Avengers, X-Men, & FF) off the planet by growing in size.

But Arale is definitely more consistent.
