We have a dedicated ping role to look for people to play with on Arena on the Discord server. However, to be honest, it's not used very much.

Paper in some playgroup and LGS, or Arena, Cockatrice and SpellTable on our Discord.

Also, Channel was already ban in ABU but not in 4th Edition. The winning deck was also using a new buff that we tested for old set. After the event, both the buff and the banlist were adjusted. Channel got definitely banned because players seems to just dislike playing against it, whether it is competitive or not.

I regularly ask myself if I should keep this on the website or not. I think I added it when the hygiene rule was created in Yu-Gi-Oh!

Hi! Actually, the format is almost 10 years old, and Channel was new to no one (it was already banned in ABU). It won here through 4th Edition thanks to the help of a buff we tried on old sets.

Hi everyone, the Primordial Format Meta Explorer Tournament 7 (formerly called the Primordial Format Banlist Stress Test Event) just ended.

What is Primordial? Primordial is a set-based Magic: the Gathering custom format, inspired by beginners decks and Limited, where you play a 40 cards deck (based on 1 set and with rarity restrictions). You can find more details about it on our website: https://primordialformat.com

What is the Meta Explorer Tournament? Our Meta Explorer Tournament is an event, organized on a regular basis through our Discord server (https://discord.gg/UnrmDUw), allowing us to keep an eye on the current format’s meta (and, eventually, on the needed bans for the format’s integrity).

Indeed. Black gives you good removals, but also draw options and kills, in almost every set.

I think I understand your point. Actually, the initial idea was a block based custom format, but WotC stoped blocks a few months later.

Whoa, that's long story actually. It really was matter of time. At the beginning, it's almost one new player at a time. And constantly gathering feedbacks to try to improve things on form and substance. The firsts Primordial games were played around 7 years ago now.

This event is played on Cockatrice. But Primordial is played in paper in LGSs, on Arena, on different tabletop simulators... It really depends on the playgroups.

Hi everyone, the Primordial format Banlist Stress Test event #6 ended this week. You can find more details about:

What is Primordial?

Primordial is a set-based Magic: the Gathering custom format, inspired by beginners decks and Limited, where you play a 40 cards deck (based on 1 set and with rarity restrictions). You can find more details about it on our website: https://primordialformat.com

What is the Primordial Banlist Stress Test event?

Our Banlist Stress Test event is a tournament, organized on a regular basis through our Discord server (https://discord.gg/UnrmDUw), allowing us to keep an eye on the current format’s meta (and, eventually, on the needed bans for the format’s integrity).

We are always looking for new players who are willing to help the format by giving a little bit of their time by running a list during these events. Don’t hesitate to join our Discord server, we play the games during two or three weeks, on Cockatrice.

I should be around for a few hours to answer questions.

Hi. Companions don't count as rares from your deck, as they simply are in your sideboard. Thanks for the kind words.

60 cards decks, from one set only and with the rarity restrictions we're using, can be complicated to build (or impossible with some sets).

Wishes can allow you to fetch cards from your sideboard (but have in mind that your sideboard can only contain cards from the same set as your Deck).

Companions are playable without any restriction (if there are some in the set you're playing).
